Soon in Sarajevo
Sarajevo Airport has confirmed that the Turkish low cost airline Pegasus will launch scheduled flights from Istanbul to the Bosnian capital next February. “Via Sabiha Airport, Pegasus will connect Sarajevo to the world”, the airport wrote on its official Facebook page before publishing the airline’s schedule on its website. Pegasus will operate five weekly flights from Sabiha Gokcen Airport starting February 4. Sarajevo is yet another destination in the airline’s expansion into Eastern Europe. Flights to the Bosnian capital will operate every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. Tickets are yet to be put up for sale. The low cost airline will also launch services to Belgrade from February 1.
Pegasus’ arrival will add even further competition on the hotly contested Istanbul - Sarajevo service, which is dominated by Turkish Airlines. Pegasus is planning a major network expansion in 2013 and recently ordered 100 Airbus A320neo family aircraft, 75 of which are firm orders. The low cost airline has operated seasonal charter flights to the Bosnian capital in the past.
Meanwhile, Norwegian Air Shuttle, which operates seasonal summer services from Oslo and Stockholm to Sarajevo, will also launch flights to the city from Copenhagen during peak season. The service is to be inaugurated on June 25 and will run once per week until August 13. Further flight details can be found here. Recently, the CEO of the Emirates Group announced Flydubai’s intention to launch flights to the Bosnian capital in 2013. The new arrivals will give a solid boost to Sarajevo Airport which handled 544.780 passengers in the elapsed eleven months of the year, a decrease of 3.9% compared to the same period in 2011.
When will we see them in Zagreb? I am sure there is a market for them to serve, especially since OU and TK operate the route and the fares are not that low, especially not with TK.

ReplyDeleteKoja velika vijest za Sarajevo ??? Pa Sarajevo je vec povezano 17 puta sedmicno sa Istanbulom. Sada ce biti 22 leta sedmicno za IST. Kome ???? Niko nece imati putnika dovoljno. Posto PGS ima i tranzite (cijela Turska) na Turkishu nece vise biti 80% tranzita. O Air Bosna da ne govorimo, mogu odma da zatvore tu liniju sa Atr72. Sa dolaskom PGS trziste ce se unistiti, BHA mora zatvoriti IST, to je po onoj staroj '' dva losa ubise Milosa'' ali moze biti i ona ''dividi et impera'' jer 2 giganta THY i PGS ne mogu nikako skupa.

Frequency comes before capacity!
I actually think the other way around, capacity should come before frequency. That's all because of that stupid competition staff.

with their stupid attitude of blocking new flights as long as possible as in case with this Pegasus now?!
At least unlike SJJ they have flights to block and 3-4 airlines competing on the route, not like in Sarajevo. Don't worry for Belgrade's place in Ex-Yu, it will only widen its advance compared to other airport in the future.

I mean c'mon what the hell...and now even.these macedonian guys...dear macedonians, no offense, but building fake alexanders and other GREEK historical buildings in Skopje won't make your unattractive and unknown capital any better...regarding SKP being 2 light years from Sarajevo, I'm only saying Winter Olympics '84 Sarajevo, an ACTUAL public tram and trolley public system and world famous brand city that only fools don't know about.
