Wizz Air Belgrade flight hit by lightning

NEWS FLASH

Wizz Air's Airbus A320 aircraft operating as flight W64046 en route from Paris Beauvais Airport to Belgrade was struck by lightning yesterday evening over Ljubljana and was diverted to Budapest instead. In a statement, the carrier said, "The aircraft landed uneventfully and is currently undergoing mandatory technical inspection. Wizz Air apologises to all affected passengers for any inconvenience caused but the safety and security of our passengers are our number one priority". Affected travellers were put on another aircraft and flown to Belgrade that same evening.

Isn't Belgrade and Budapest same distance from Ljubljana. Why then they reroute it to BUD? Or why they did not lend at Ljubljana or Zagreb. Maintenance? But than it is cost save measure on account of passenger comfort. It would cost them much more to repair possible damage in BEG (ZAG, LJU) than in BUD.

Budapest is their main hub. They have mechanics and aircraft there.

In the end, BVA-(BUD)-BEG was late only 75 minutes, the spare plane was poised at BUD waiting for passengers to Belgrade.

Clearly orchestrated by Air Serbia in a further attempt to chase low-cost airlines away from BEG.
