PHOTOS: Lufthansa marks Zagreb anniversary

NEWS FLASH

Lufthansa has marked fifty years since launching operations between Germany and Zagreb. Today's flight LH1415 from Frankfurt to the Croatian capital, operated by a Bombardier CRJ900 aircraft, was greeted at the airport by the Regional Director of the Lufthansa Group for Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Montenegro, Serbia and Slovenia, Berhard Wodl, the German Ambassador to Croatia, Thomas Eberhard Schultze, as well as the General Manager of Zagreb Airport, Jacques Feron. "This fiftieth anniversary is a very important event for us and we are extremely proud to have been present in this region since our first flight. However, this achievement would not have been possible without the support and trust of our partners and passengers. We are delighted to have many happy customers in Croatia, which has resulted in our excellent reputation. We connect Croatia to the world via our main hub airports and contribute to its development", Mr Wodl said.

The first Lufthansa flight from Frankfurt to Zagreb operated via Munich and continued on to Bucharest on August 25, 1967 with a Boeing 727 jet. Last year, the German carrier accounted for 18.3% of all travellers flying to and from the Croatian capital, while its passenger share stands at 17.5% so far this year. The Lufthansa Group maintains 147 weekly flights to almost all of Croatia’s commercial airports. It also boasts close ties with its Star Alliance partner Croatia Airlines.

Couldn't they spare an A319 for the anniversary?

They should have sent an A330 that would have been impressive. ;)

Well given the amount of passenger they handle in ZAG and their tight relationship with OU a bigger aircraft would have been nice.
