Aegean Airlines has upgraded its new service between Athens and Zagreb from seasonal to year-round operations. The carrier will continue serving the Croatian capital past the summer, with two weekly flights. Some 14.800 passengers travelled indirectly between the two cities last year. Aegean previously told EX-YU Aviation News it would extend the service depending on its performance. Recently, Spain's Iberia also announced it was upgrading its seasonal flights between Madrid and Zagreb to year-round operations.
Ok, that is fine but if they add one more rotation it will be better for transfer pax.

DeleteTourist lines don't operate on 1st and 3rd days of week. Apparently (unlike you) Aegean considers the route as a potential business route (I say potential due to the low frequency).
I don't see any potential for business route. Too little business ties between Croatia and Greece.

DeleteMonarch did really well on their Manchester service to Zagreb. This would have to be one if OUs next destinations hopefully they will launch it next year.

Zagreb needs to get more carriers in and more destinations to come even close to Belgrade, which has what 95 destinations served.
Zagreb has 65 destinations, we still need:
TAP: Lisbon
Alitalia, Bologna, Roma, Milano
SAS, Oslo, Stockholm,
Air Baltic, - Tallinn, Riga, Vilnius
WOW, - Reykjavik
Aer Lingus - Dublin
Finnair - Helsinki
Tarom - Bucharest,
Bulgarian - Sofia
Vueling - Valencia
Transavia France - Lyon, Marseilles, Nice,
EasyJet - London GTW, Manchester, Birmingham, Edinburgh
Hianan Airlines - Beijing, Shanghai
Singapore Airlines - Singapore

Delta - NYC, Chicago
Thai Air - Bangkok
If Zagreb had all these carriers and these destinations, then you can argue Zagreb has most extensive network in the region.
When all these carriers show up, and start service to Zagreb, it'll be the most extensive network in the region but also most comprehensive too, as it'll give access to all 3 continents, Asia, North America and Europe.
One can only hope, dream and keep fingers crossed, one day.

DeleteIt can't happen because ties between Croatia and Iran are nowhere close to those between Serbia and Iran. Mind you, Serbia and Iran are about to sign a free trade agreement so there is going to be even more demand for flights.
