Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport and Zagreb Airport have been named among the top ten best in Eastern Europe at the 2019 Skytrax World Airport Awards held in London. Belgrade Airport was placed fifth among Eastern Europe’s best airports, up one place from 2018's rank. It marks the fifth consecutive year it has placed inside the top ten. On the other hand, Zagreb was featured on the list for the first time, placing ninth. Skopje Airport, which has ranked among the the top ten for the past four years failed to do so this time around. No other airport from the former Yugoslavia managed to enter the top ten of any category. Furthermore, no airport in the region was among the top 100 best airports in the world, with Singapore’s Changi Airport taking the title for a seventh year in a row. The 2019 World Airport Awards were based on 13.73 million customer nominations across 100 nationalities of air travellers, and included 550 airports worldwide.

The World Airport Awards are considered the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry voted by customers in the largest annual global airport customer satisfaction survey. The evaluation took place between August 2018 and February 2019. It is the fifth time in the award’s twenty \-year history that two airports from the former Yugoslavia have entered the top ten of any category, which includes the world’s best airport, most improved airport, airport with the best staff, best security and best transit airport, to name a few. According to Skytrax, the survey and awards process is independent and guaranteed free of any airport influence or interference in final results. It evaluates customer satisfaction across 39 key performance indicators for airport service and product - from check-in, arrivals, transfers, shopping, security and immigration, through to departure at the gate. The World Airline Awards, also organised by Skytrax, where Adria Airways, Air Serbia and Croatia Airlines have featured among the ten best carriers in Eastern Europe, takes place in July.

WAW not in the list? That's quite strange. The airport is not bad at all.
ZAG 9th?? Find this quite strange too.
TBS, I have been. Really good airport too.
TLL is very good too. Spotless.
Not surprised about SOF being last :D it is in the list maybe just because it has a metro linked to the city.
BEG really improved during the last couple of years.
BUD deserves top position, it was always better than WAW even during Malév times BUT the low cost terminal looks like a Second World War camp or a slaughterhouse.

TBS really good only if drastic change happened during last five years. 5 years ago, wha I remember of TBS is : complete building full with cigarete smoke, toilets dirty, food offer - almost nothing and heavily overpriced, no luggage storage or boxes, no post office, barely anyone spoke English, public transportation to the city existing but no information about it in the terminal, taxi mafia outside, so all in all one of the WORST airports I 've ever been to, and the list is not short at all. So, once again, either they improved significantly or are this skytrax actually skytrash

I am surprised BUD is that high, never liked that airport. Yes the new SkyCourt is nice but it's nothing special. The whole area for LCCs is outright depressing, especially the 'tunnels' across the tarmac.

I think this list includes a bit of everything.
Management, efficiency, coverage, facilities, competition, etc, etc.

It's not all about the architectural design of the building. It's more about services offered. Read some of the issues Zagreb has had over the past 2 years, from lighting, shop working hours, signage etc.

Of course, like LH paid to get the five star rating! Neither one of the two deserve it.

I don’t know if they paid for it, but from my experience BUD is the worst airport I’ve been to. The building is bland, the interior dafk and uninspiring, the customs officers look like they haven’t smiled in 10 years, the toilets are extremely dirty, luggage belts make me uneasy standing next to them, the airport is confusing to get to as two terminals are so far away between each other, and it generally looks like it hasn’t been renovated in 30 years even though it is always under construction.

SKP and BTS (5th place) are almost identical both in size and design (and i believe in age)
SKP has better options to eat at the airport whereas BTS has better public transport options than SKP

Lepo je citati o pozicioniranju, pogotovu putovati kroz terminale jugo istocne Evrope. Toliko toga popravljenog, napravljenog, unapredjenog.
Verovao sam i verujem. Toliko se toga potvrdilo. I bice!.
