KLM has announced it will be resuming its scheduled service between Amsterdam and Zagreb next month. Flights are to be reinstated on July 5 and initially run three times per week, each Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with KLM Cityhopper’s 100-seat Embraer E190 jet. With the network expansions in July, KLM will once again serve 78% of its initially planned number of destinations with more than 3.000 departing flights from Amsterdam. However, the number of frequencies will amount to 25% to 30% compared to last year. “Our customers want to travel again. We are therefore expanding the network slowly and carefully. With all the hygiene measures taken on board and on the ground, we are doing this as safely as possible”, KLM’s President and CEO, Pieter Elbers, said. In addition to Zagreb, KLM will also resume its Split service during July.
Isn't OU resuming daily AMS flights? How do they expect to be competitive with only 3 flights onboard a cramped regional jet?
ReplyDeleteThey started AMS on May 25th. On Saturday OU flew to with the A320.
DeleteA320 was for operational reasons. From ZAG there were 55 passengers and 132 on the way back.

DeleteKLM and OU have a code-share agreement which allows them to sell tickets on each other's flights without having to worry whether the flight is going to be profitable as it is operated by the partner airline.
Code share is not the same if you end up travelling on codeshare partner instead of prestige and quality airlines like KLM. Zagreb is (sorry, was) known for prestige airlines in the past:

DeletePurger said few days ago that ZAG does not need LH as OU already has code shares with Lufthansa.
ERJs r really comfortable, with 2+2 seating and 18.5 inch wide seats. Amd overhead lockers can easily fit any approved cabin luggage. For shorthaul they would be my first choice.
