Croatia Airlines launches first new route in Covid era

NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines has introduced the first new addition to its route network since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic over the weekend. The carrier launched a seasonal one weekly service between Split and Prague, operated by a mix of Dash 8 turboprops and the Airbus A319 aircraft. "Thanks to the introduction of nonstop flights between Prague and Split, tourists from the Czech Republic will get even better access to the Mediterranean part of Croatia, as well as its natural, cultural and historical heritage", Croatia Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Slaven Žabo, said. The service will run until September 11.

It is unfortunate that they no longer fly from Zagreb to Prague. And now Eurowings is going to take the route over from them.

But why one weekly? Common sense is at least two weekly. If someone from Prague wants to go to Split for 10 days (most people spend 10 days on holidays), they can fly with Croatia, but they can not return with the same carrier since it only flies once each 7 days.

    2. There is a train connection going every day from Prague to Rijeka/Split, they can't possibly compete with those prices multiple times per week.

And why should they? There are lots of Czechs who can pay to fly.

Most people definitely do not spend 14 nights on holiday... In fact very few do more than 10/11, especially in expensive places such as Croatia.

Foks, given the popularity of the Croatian coast in Czechia, I would assume they are flying to all of the Czech airports from at least Dubrovnik, Split and Pula...

    1. Even RJK, which you don't list, with reason, has flights this season to Holland with Transavia 4 weekly, to Poland with LOT 4 weekly, to Germany with Eurowings 9 weekly, Germany Lufthansa 2 weekly, Latvia with Air Baltic 2 weekly, and they as main national carrier operate 2 weekly Q400 to Munich. Because Graz and Munich is where their World ends.

Mediterranean part of Croatia? If their chief commercial officer doesn't even know that Croatia is on the Adriatic, then OU has much bigger problems than previously thought. :) :)

    1. Adriatic sea is part of the Med.

    2. No matter how critical I am about OU, it has nothing to do with Croatia being absolutely partly Mediterranean country - entire croatian coast belongs to Mediterranean geographically, by mindset, way of living, habits, history, mentality, scenery, food, everything. And such position was actually something OU should have taken advantage of in like dozen times more
