Turkish Airlines schedules widebody Belgrade flights

NEWS FLASH


Turkish Airlines has scheduled operations with its Airbus A330-300 aircraft between Istanbul and Belgrade throughout the height of the summer season until the end of August. The Turkish carrier will deploy its 289-seat aircraft, featuring 28 seats in business and the remaining 261 in the economy class section, to Belgrade each Wednesday morning, starting today. The carrier currently operates eleven weekly rotations between the two cities.

      They are already codesharing with JU on their afternoon flights.

      Not always. Tomorrow is almost identical as today in terms of connections, yet tomorrow is scheduled for the A319.

    Seems like BEG will roar in June:

    1. SU going six weekly on A333
    2. TK keeping the A333 on Wednesdays
    3. JU launching ROV and resuming LED and KRR
    4. Aegean resumes BEG tonight
    5. Luxair launches BEG tomorrow

      Forgot about that one, I just checked their website and seems like lowest fares are already gone. Good for them. I wonder if they might add another destination. Ural was considering a big BEG expansion but nothing will come out of it.

      Vueling is scheduled, flights are on sale already. They even added normal times, for example their June flights depart from BCN at 07.20.
      I think they realized that they can't compete with JU and W6 with middle of the night flights.

    Must be strong cargo demand to justify the upgrade, the economics of widebody on short haul doesn't make sense vs more frequencies

      Many airlines around the world use widebody on short haul routes for various reasons: demand, to increase ac utilisation between long haul ops, cargo...

      Yes but when you have 200+ narrowbody aircraft, financially it makes more sense to deploy 2 A321 than 1 A330 unless you have large cargo demand to make up for the difference or operating costs

      For Turkish it does. Theyve been doing it for years, dispatching widebodies to ATH, OTP, TXL/BER, perhaps also BUD, VIE, ZRH...

    It's a shame that the famous TK short-haul service has been gutted so badly. (I fly them often between MXP and BEG.) No service whatsoever in Economy (except a glass of water) and significantly reduced service in Business (Economy-style main courses and a very poor selection of wine).
