NEWS FLASH

Wizz Air will add more flights between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade after recently increasing frequencies on the route. The low cost carrier will introduce a fourth weekly service between the two capital cities starting December 19. Operations will be maintained each Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday with the 239-seat Airbus A321 aircraft. As a result, Belgrade Airport will now boast almost the same capacity between the two cities as prior to the pandemic, when the route was maintained on a daily basis by Etihad Airways. Wizz Air initially commenced services from Abu Dhabi to Belgrade in late May with two weekly flights.

    Seems like EY terminating the route was the best thing to have happened to the market.
    With transfers EY could have easily sent a widebody every day to BEG.

      But BEG and JU lose out on transfer passengers.

      EY could have easily flown WB during the summer season and WB 4x a week during winter. Bad decision to knock BEG.

    Shame on these greedy bastards. Four of us booked BEG-AUH for New Year last spring when the flights were first announced, only to have the tickets cancelled three days ago for no reason. Obviously they figured out they could make more money than the €110 p.p. we paid, so they just kept our money for six months and then kicked us off the flight.

      These guys (bastards) are not to be trusted and often the bill comes equal or higher than legacy carriers. I avoid them in a large circle.

      @Vlad

      Same here.
      Had a ticket to AUH in February, and got it cancelled on Friday.
      Now they got the flights back into the system, but at higher prices of course.

      If I didn't have connecting flights from AUH, I would probably not buy the new, more expensive ones. Luckily, my connecting flight is still manageable with the new timetable.

    Could you please explain me why there is such a huge demand from Bg to the Gulf area? Transfers? Point to point? Workers? Businessmen? Tourists?
    Thanks.

    What kind of Covid requirement needed for Abu Dhabi and Dubai?

      For Serbian citizens to Abu Dhabi: Proof of vaccination, PCR test up to 72 hours prior to flight and downlow official app where you upload vaccination certificate
      For Dubai: a PCR test no older than 72 hours prior to departure.

    If I was Wizz Abu Dhabi, I'd launch BEG-DXB flights, since FZ is charging 300+ euros for return tickets. They have such flights from SOF, OTP, BUD and I'd personally buy SOF-DXB since the tickets are way cheaper, especially for budget Dubai tourism.

      I think they are ditching SOF-AUH. Just checked on their website that all winter flights will now operate to DXB. There was already a much higher demand to DXB every winter. Bulgaria Air is also stepping in while FZ, similar to BEG, will operate 2 daily flights on some days. Clearly, no demand for AUH compared to BEG.
      Guess this is the EY "inheritance".

      Yes, budget travel exists. There are some people called backpackers and, for example, if you're from Nis, it's way cheaper to buy SOF-DXB round trip for 80E, since FZ is also more or less low cost and they charge for almost everything (baggage, meal, ...)

    @Anonymous16:57
    The issue is not the lack of demand to AUH, but the restrictions there. Same issue is with OTP-AUH, all flights fir now will be operated to DXB since they have less restrictions there.

      That's why it would make sense to have BEG-DXB or even BEG-DWC if that's possible, especially during EXPO
