NEWS FLASH
Croatia Airlines has said it is proud if its livery served as the inspiration for its Star Alliance partner’s new colour scheme. Last month, Brussels Airlines unveiled its new brand identity, which bears an uncanny resemblance to that of Croatia Airlines. The dotted “b” which can currently be seen on the carrier’s logo and tailfins has been replaced with dots of different sizes, designed to represent the diversity of the airline’s customers, while the carrier’s signature colours now feature a deeper red and darker shade of blue. Brussels Airlines said that the new brand identity is “the visual token of the airline’s new chapter, stating its readiness for future challenges and re-emphasising on the importance of the Belgian brand”. For its part, Croatia Airlines said, “The design of our visual identity is recognisable both in Croatia and abroad and we are proud if it served as inspiration to other carriers with their own designs. It should be noted that in 2005 the company was the recipient of the international ReBrandTM award for our livery as judged by some of the world’s most respected experts in the field of design. In addition, in 2019 and 2020, the entire Croatia Airlines fleet was visually refreshed. The squares, as a recognisable symbol of Croatian national identity, was applied along the tail and the back of the fuselage while the size of the letters “CROATIA” has been increased”.
There are a lot of similarities, but in general it is not copying. The squares clearly emphasize Croatian.
ReplyDeleteIf this is not copying, then I don’t know :D
ReplyDeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteAnd the dots they placed on the winglets is the exact copy of the Polish "Gazeta" magazine's logo. Nothing original from Brussels :(
ReplyDeleteNow they should inspire each other to be profitable.
ReplyDeleteHahahaha, good one 😃
DeleteMore like the old jat dots
ReplyDeleteCroatia Airlines once again leading the way in Europe.
ReplyDeleteOnce again? What did it lead Europe in before?
DeleteCan you sense the irony? Not.
DeleteAir Greenland uses dots in their livery too :) The similarities between SN and OU are more than coincidental. I have to admit they both look nice.
ReplyDeleteTime for JU to freshen up their livery too. The color split on the tail and engines feels a bit heavy. They should just use a stylized image of the two-headed eagle and stretch it over the entire tail in some gray or blue color. I really like the pattern they used on their pillows in in business class (not sure if they still provide those). They could use that same pattern on their airplane tails.
That costs...soooo no:)))
DeleteYes, introducing new livery costs, however it can also save money. According to Belgian press, SN aircrafts paint with new livery will cost 10-15 % less than the old one and they will introduce it gradually when an aircraft will need a regular paint.
DeleteComedy heaven.
ReplyDeleteCroatia and JAT dots mix. Really strange.
ReplyDeleteWell it's not the same at all. Squares and balls are two different shapes. Of course there were other similarities in the past decades regarding airplane livery. Take for example Delta Airlines that had a Serbian flag on its tail for nearly a decade.
ReplyDeleteThat's true. I forgot about Delta using Serbian flag :) Seems like so long ago now. My favorite was the Northwest Airlines livery with that compass logo and sliver and red tones. I think the new SAS livery has that same silver tone and looks very nice too. Does anyone know if Air Montenegro decided on their livery yet?
DeleteMonths ago it was reported here they would paint it during the winter.
Delete@16.14 well just because Delta had "Serbian flag" which are also colours on the US flag they didn't actually copy anyone's design, while here it is a clear copy.

ReplyDeleteI figured out what's going on with Brussels re-branding, it's so obvious, you can thank me later ;-)
ReplyDeleteSo, BCG's highly anticipated strategy paid in millions is very much thinking out of the box-OU is buying SN fom LH Group!!! OU will develop ZAG as a major intercontinental hub focused on E/SE Africa (BRU is more focused on W&C Africa), will lease 6 A330-900, 12 A321XLR and 18 A320N, all delivered from 2022-25, for both SN and OU, with high-end 3 class of service and SNOU-suits being better than Q-crap by some irrelevant desert carrier. Company expects to be profitable already in 2037.
Comedy heaven vol.2.
DeleteBrussels one is so generic and sterile and looks like medicine packaging, compared to OU which actually has character and meaning behind it and not just trying to be modern and minimalist for the sake of it. Shame OU got rid of the blue belly, it really tied it all together nicely
ReplyDeleteActually, I prefer refreshed OU livery. Yes, it has character, meaning behind, however a refreshed one for me looks more classy.
DeleteI really don't see how circles and squares are so similar to many people, but ok. The only similar thing is red color, which is not so unique.
ReplyDeleteAnyway, both look bad and outdated, so no need to compete, really.
