NEWS FLASH
Brussels Airlines will temporarily suspend flights from the Belgian capital to Ljubljana as Slovenia completes its six-month presidency of the European Union. The last service is scheduled for January 10, after which flights are not due to resume until February 28. The suspension will coincide with that of Wizz Air on its Charleroi - Ljubljana route, which will be halted from January 7 until March 11. As a result, the Slovenian capital will have no scheduled nonstop flights to Belgium until the end of next month.

ReplyDeleteIt's not exactly boosting to six weekly. It is just one single week that there will be six weekly flights and then it goes back to normal. High probabilty they added flights to transport officials and atheletes to winter olympics.

ReplyDeleteEven Varna in Bulgaria has more flights than Ljubljana! I emphasize in WINTER (in summer the situation is different).

DeleteYes, dear. But VAR tackled seasonality by working with the surrounding municipalities and the airport. As you can see, they now have year-round flights and 3 Wizzair planes based. As well as Turkish, Austrian and S7 because of the small Russian community.

This is hilarious...Good start to get 800k pax this year :) I think that Ms Stappel should beg on knees Slovenian government to establish national carrier ASAP!

DeleteI really doubt that "we" will get 500k, actually I would be really surprised if they get more pax than in 2021 as we have to be aware that Slovenia was running EU presidency for 6 months which also contributed in more pax/flights. So another interesting year is in front of us...

ReplyDeleteMs Stappel is not that long on the MD seat. Hear actions will only start to yield results in the mid of summer season.
We will start to see completely different fraport, when they will need to add liquidity capital to LJU (till now it was past savings, government money and credits).
For Fraport its easier to fly all passengers via FRA :)
ReplyDeleteWhy do people blame Fraport for this? Reduced demand due to the rapid spread of omicron is making airlines cancel flights and routes en masse all across Europe. If anything, I would blame Brussels Airlines' fleet strategy of no longer having regional aircraft in their fleet. Of course the Airbus can't handle a situation like this.

so much about omicron, it seems that it only affects Slovenian connectivity..
We are listening same excuse for two years now and nothing happens!
In the end it doesn't really matter. They will have lower traffic and lower income that does not cover the cost.

Air Serbia plans to grow in the next twelve months and Turkish Airlines is increasing in the summer schedule. That's completely irrelevant in this context. Brussels Airlines and other airlines are reducing right now.
