NEWS FLASH
Canada’s Air Transat restored seasonal operations between Toronto and Zagreb over the weekend, marking the resumption of flights both between the two cities and long haul services to the Croatian capital after over two years. Air Transat will initially maintain one weekly rotation between the two, before increasing to two weekly from June 14 until the end of the summer season. It is utilising its 332-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft on the route. It faces no direct competition after Air Canada cancelled plans to launch operations between the two cities this summer as a replacement for its leisure operator Air Canada Rouge, which has ended all long haul flights. Commenting on Air Transat’s return, the General Manager of Zagreb Airport, Huseyin Bahadir Bedir, said, “The return of Air Transat and the reconnection of Toronto and Zagreb is another step towards the recovery of traffic. Air Transat was the first airline to establish a transatlantic bridge between Croatia and Canada in 2016, therefore, we are even more pleased with its return". The Canadian Ambassador to Croatia, Alan Bowman, added, “I am delighted that Air Transat has reintroduced direct flights between Canada and Croatia. I believe that these flights will increase the number of tourists between our two countries, but also open doors for new business opportunities ". Air Transat recently concluded a codeshare with WestJet, enabling the latter to place its designator code and flight numbers onto the Zagreb route.
Welcome back!
ReplyDeleteDo we know LF on this flight?
ReplyDelete85%
DeleteI was on the flight, 221 ppl was on the board, stop spreading lies about 85% of LF ,who r these ppl anyway
DeleteYeah, sure, you was on flight, and you went through entire cabin, premium (whatever it is exactly called) class included, and you counted passengers so you know they were exactly 221, not 220, not 222. Sure. LOL!!!
DeleteBtw we had guy here few days ago claiming Transat flight Toronto Zagreb on Tuesday 07 June was cancelled due to poor loads. The interesting thing being Tuesday flights are starting June 14.
DeleteIt should have been Croatia Airlines, twenty years ago, but OK, when they are totally incapable and uninterested, better to have Transat, and hopefully again Air Canada in the future, than nothing. So, yes, welcome back Transat!
ReplyDeleteAccording to pozdrav's idealisms, apart from OU no other airline would be operating in entire Croatia.
DeleteHe is right, they had the opportunity, failed to use it and stagnated for years.
DeleteThey could have tried to do something more proactive, maybe fail but still this way they didn't even bother and are still in a pickle.
Croatia airlines : Don't cry for me pozdrav!
DeleteJAT, Pan Am, Air Canada, Malaysian, Skywest Canada, Sky Greece, Air Canada Rouge, Transat, American, United, Delta, Qatar, Fly dubai, Emirates, Korean Air - is the list of 15 airline companies that maintained or maintain scheduled services between Croatia and distant markets. Just showing potentials of the market which Croatia Airlines missed. And than we have fanboys and/or Party bots and/or fanboys who classical thesis swap saying I insist on OU operating those flights only. That's why I stop now the discussion on this matter with brainwashed people who have absolutely no clue what do I talk about, or are paid to oppose me and at least little bit soften the sad truth about incompetence and corruption in Croatia Airlines
DeleteSkyservice, not Skywest, typo
DeleteMy comment will likely not be popular but OU started going backwards once Tudjman died. Before the change to the Racan and mesic government (which just cemented the Croatia we have today), both Zagreb and OU had pretty decent plans for expansion which included widebody aircraft for OU to conduct at the very least trans Atlantic services. These flights would have likely just have been symbolic for the time and money loosing but could have set up Zagreb as a decent regional hub today.
DeleteINN-NS
Paid to oppose you? holy. get a grip.
DeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteI am glad ZAG is restoring its long-haul prestigious routes again. Hopefully, South Korea is back as well. Bravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteDoesn't get more prestigious than Air Transat.
DeleteRecession looming in Canada .
DeleteI hope for a safe landing of Air Transat and the economy in general .
Seasonal charter.
ReplyDeleteIf commenting on an aviation blog, learn what charter is. This is scheduled service, not charter. Seasonal, yes, like 80 percent of Transat services, but scheduled, or regular, whichever term you might prefer. And you probably know it very well, but can't help being mean and malicious. And you need to live with it.
DeleteWhat season is in April in Croatia anyway?
DeleteIt is May now.
DeleteIt's been May for almost 2 weeks, lol
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone know if crew stays in Zagreb for a week in situations like this?
ReplyDeleteNot entirely impossible, but much more likely they fly as passengers (DHC) to some other city in Italy, France, Greece or wherever else they fly, and after one day go back from there to Canada. The same other way round. Especially today in post-pLandemic situation when airlines lack crew big time, I would be very much surprised any airline giving crew week off out of the home base
