Zadar first Croatian airport to surpass pre-Covid figures

NEWS FLASH

Zadar Airport has become the first in Croatia to outperform its passenger numbers registered during the record 2019. The coastal airport handled 172.941 customers in June, representing an increase of 39.4% on the same month in 2019, or an additional 48.876 travellers. Overall, during the first half of the year, the airport welcomed a record 329.461 passengers, up 11.4% on 2019. The growth is primarily being fuelled by Ryanair, which has launched a number of new routes from its seasonal Zadar base and now boasts over forty destinations. “In July and August, we expect 30% more passengers than in June, which means around 220,000 travellers in July and the same number in August. This year will surely be a record one, about 15% - 20% more than in 2019”, Ivan Skelin, the airport’s Manager for Transport and Operational Sector, said.

Indeed Bravo, but lots of missed destinations also. The Baltic is a big gap, likewise Iberian Peninsular. I could also make a case for somewhere like Belfast or Glasgow to be added too. LH do a good job with connections to hubs, but KLM to AMS would be a great addition. Easyjet have the opportunity to expand and even someone like Wizz could have a few weekly flights. Copenhagen is missing from the route map which is a shame. However a great performance from Zadar, just please do not rely on FR too much.

    1. Vilnius, Riga scrapped by FR due to Covid outbreak. Madrid by Iberia & Barcelona by Vueling, too.

All while OU having 0 (zero!) international destinations out of Zadar. Weird.
Btw, ZAD works nice for JU, too.

Alaskan will never fly to ZAD, but FR or OU could do a few winter weekly flights to the likes of VIE or FRA.

      AS refers to Air Serbia.

Congratulations, Zadar. Now it's time for BWK to show and grow its potential. Sadly, no news about the airport for such a long time :(

Love flying into BWK when I get the chance. Much more convenient way to get to the islands than SPU -> Split port
