Air Serbia to unveil North America partnership

NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has said it plans to unveil a new partnership agreement with a North American carrier. The airline’s CEO, Jiri Marek, noted, “We are working hard on further expanding existing partnerships with other airlines. Soon, we expect to be able to announce a new partnership with an airline from North America”. Late last year, Mr Marek said the Serbian carrier would conclude a codeshare partnership with a major US airline. In January, Air Serbia expanded its interline partnership with American Airlines offering passengers connections between Belgrade and over seventy additional destinations in the United States.

What's in it for AA that's not already covered by the current interline?

Hopefully it would be a codeshare agreement.

Codeshare was announced but didn't happen. Air Serbia already has interline with both American and JetBlue. If they have interline with those two, Delta makes no sense. Partnership was announced as North American, not US, therefore it's likely airline from Canada. Seems that existing deal with Air Canada is off. That leaves Westjet, Air Transat or Porter.

Lol Porter ? What the heck is that ? Westjet moved almost all their operations and aircrafts from YYZ and YUL . Definitely none of that .it will be an USA based airline operating in North and Soith America .

Porter is the launch customer in North America for E2 Embraer's with currently 9 in service and 41 on order planning to operate 55 flights a day out of YYZ across Canada, USA and South destinations. They are a great competition to WestJet and are planning to take over many of their routes since WestJet is moving their operations to YYC. Porter announced a firm order for 20 Embraer E195-E2 passenger jets with a total list price value of US$1.56 billion, bringing its orders with Embraer to a total of 50 firm commitments and 50 purchase rights

I think it will be Delta because of SkyTeam and their transfers in AMS and CDG. It will also come handy for them in MAD if they collaborate with Air Europa, who have a huge domestic and intercontinental network especially now that they are part of IAG. JU must also ensure a daily flight to MAD.
Sole issue is that Delta ain't that big in ORD, so the other option is American Airlines.
United, Frontier, Alaska, Avelo, JetBlue are highly unlikely....

Most likely, since they are heavily expanding taking over WestJet's routes at YYZ as WJA is now creating their hub in YYC and cut down a lot of flights at YYZ. They are planning 54 aircrafts by the end of the year covering all of Canada, most of USA and South destinations.
