NEWS FLASH

Air Serbia has introduced new complimentary meal packages for economy class passengers on flights around two and a half hours and longer. The contents of the packaged meal include a sandwich, sweets and water. It replaces the previous meal service, which included a bottle of water and either cookies or crisps, which have been served on all short haul flights up until now. Passengers can purchase additional snacks, sandwiches and beverages on board. Business class travellers, as well as all customers on flights between Belgrade, New York and Tianjin, continue to be offered complimentary food and beverages in all classes. Air Serbia introduced its buy-on-board service for economy class passengers in March 2018 and reintroduced complimentary snacks in November that same year.

Good news: @airserbia decided to re-start the practice of giving out lunch packs on flights longer than 2.5hrs pic.twitter.com/jLqDjIH9Tm

Ah cool, this was less than 2 weeks ago. I like Aegean. They seem to care about their passengers. I had a problem with my passport (I left it somewhere and police called my name to come and pick it up) and I did not show up for boarding. They called me on the phone to check on me and offered help with the security. It was not needed but I was shocked how they care about people. Lufthansa would just close the gate and leave. Same in ATH, if you are in the check-in line, they will not let you be late for your flight. They call destinations they are about to close check-in and let you skip the line.

Aegean rocks. I had a flight from SMI to BEG connecting at ATH with a 55-min layover. The 'Connection Ambassador' waited for us at the wing tip, got us through the CD counter at passport control then through the staff control at security and ran with us to the very far A28 gate to make sure we got onto the last bus for the BEG flight :)

    1. Anonymous13:52

Cheap enough, but not good enough. Other airlines consider their buy on board programme an integral part of their revenue, and they manage to generate significant revenues. What Air Serbia offers is a bunch of lousy sandwiches, standard drinks presented on a menu looking like a children's birthday invitation. The only Serbian thing on there are the Orasnica and the Rakija...

      Just compare

      JU: https://bit.ly/44oXd8P
      BA: https://bit.ly/3NH0bzA
      LX: https://bit.ly/3NzM6UL
      FR: https://bit.ly/3AL7z5D
      DY: https://bit.ly/3LPqwu4

And in business the choices aren't really better, weird choices, horrible execution.

Maybe it isn't even JU's fault, the fact Hainan has to hand out a 3 kg snack bag due to subpar catering says all about the situation at Aerodrom Catering.

I was talking about JAT Yugoslav Airlines, in 1997 there was no JAT Airways yet.
At that time they offered plates at longer trips and this white paper bags at shorter trips. I had never a complaints about JAT Catering actually.

JAT Airways never existed. It was Jat Airways, as @15.53 correctly wrote. Yugoslavia disintegrated in 1991/1992. JAT was abbreviation for Jugoslavenski /Jugoslovenski Aero Transport. The company might still formally have had the old name in 1997 but real JAT, flag carrier of Yugoslavia, good, big and wellknown carrier, actually ceased to exist in 1991/1992

I was not correcting "typos" or typos. I was correcting the essence. The essence is that JAT was the airline of Yugoslavia, huge and good. Jat was airline of the leftovers of one part of ex-Yugoslavia, tiny and lousy. I don't know about the catering, maybe catering was good in Jat as well, but I am talking overall. If you knew it, and deliberately wrote what you wrote, even worse

You were the one who brought history into catering discussion, giving inaccurate historical data. I corrected your false data. Instead saying thanks, or at least admit your mistake, which I often do when proved wrong, you are accusing me for going off topic. Well sorry, you went off topic with going back to history instead keeping on catering. If you don't like what I said, perfectly fine with me, but I will not stop discussion which you started on your order because you dislike it. And JAT and Jat were two completely diferrent Universes. Not only airline and aircraft fanatics read and participate in this blog, it's actually quite opposite. I was not writing to be "interesting" or interesting, but to correct what you wrote wrong, because JAT and Jat were not the same. And you are obviously kind of person that does not accept being able to make mistake and admit it, unlike me, who often admits not to be "all knowing", which is precisely what you pretend to be. And this will be my last post here, however I do expect another one of yours for "yours to be the last"

Last weekend I fly with Austrian and Brussels airlines. First one offered plastic cup if water from the plastic 2l bottle + a chocolate, second one didn't bother to offer even the glas of water... I think all the ones complaining are the ones who would complain anyway, so we should not react.
