NEWS FLASH

Flydubai handled 26.278 passengers on its flights to and from Ljubljana during the January - May period according to the Statistical Office of Slovenia. The figure represents an increase of 45.4% on the same period last year. The airline’s average cabin load factor on the route for the five-month period stood at 69.7%. Flydubai plans to increase frequencies on its Ljubljana service this winter season which begins on October 29 and runs until March 30, 2024. The Dubai-based carrier will initially run four weekly rotations to the Slovenian capital during the winter, with additional services in early November, however, from December 18, the airline will increase frequencies to daily, which will be maintained for the remainder of the season.

They are very smart with their Ljubljana scheduling, I see them frequently adding flights in the period of school vacations etc.

Seems like a fairly strong result, can't wait for Qatar too!

Etihad? But they don’t fly to anywhere in region so doubt Lju would be their first in Balkan or this region

Flights with Qatar, Etihad or FlyDubai are and will be just connecting flights towards Asia. And winter is the main season. I think that Gulf carriers figured out, that they had many passengers from Slovenia in VCE and ZAG, where is stiff competition. As Turkish and FlyDubai have practically monopoly in LJU, the margins and profit are quite high. And this is attracting also other Gulf carriers. If you add that LJU is also well developed cargo hub, interest is even higher.

I'm not that experienced in aviation yet. Can someone explain, is this a good load factor? Especially 58% in may? I'm hoping all the best for Slovenian aviation, we can't lose FlyDubai

Depends,if the business class was full it's profitable flight, if not it's on the edge, especially as someone was saying recently that they are earning quite a bit of money via cargo as well

May is not the high season to travel to Dubai so it is logical loads are softer.

Don't worry about load factor, because Fly Dubai is making money on these flights with cargo.
LJU airport was bought by Fraport just because of cargo, which is the core business. Passenger traffic is just supplementary activity.

Just to compare, I think Skopje had these figures on a yearly basis, no surprise that they are not planning to return there yet...

SKP had just 24.270 in whole 2019 while LJU has more than 26.000 in just five months. And they said SKP is a bigger market than LJU :)

sure but they had better LF figures then this. They should reduce the freq. 64.6 and 58.8 is nothing to write home about

People looking purely at load factor and commenting whether they should or shouldn't fly shows most have no clue about how aviation works.

11:17 if FlyDubai flew to SKP twice weekly for the whole 2019 they had around 40.000 seats, which means that average LF was around 60%. So no, SKP wasn't not doing better.

They should probably reduce operations in summer a bit becouse when it comes to direct flights to Dubai as final destination, not many people ho there in the summer becouse it’s too hot. But in the winter the loads are really good and I wouldn’t be surprised if they really operated daily from december on

Yes, in the summer 90% of people who travel to Dubai from Lju travels there for transfers to other flights, while in the winter many people go directly to dubai

Still think that LJU lacks serious Gulf connections. it is the typical type of destination and country that Arabs like something like SJJ. Flights to Riyadh or Bahrain would be interesting. Shame that Fraport is sleeping on Gulf destinations. DXB IS a huge success in LJU.
