NEWS FLASH

The Slovenian Parliament’s Public Finances Oversight Commission has proposed for the government to enter into a strategic partnership with an established airline in the process of forming the country’s new national carrier. Slovenia’s Minister for Infrastructure, Alenka Bratušek, has said further details on the establishment of the new airline would be made public this autumn. Ms Bratušek noted that the decision made by the Parliament’s Commission is almost identical to the government’s conclusion on the matter.

Very good news for LJU and Slovenia. I think this new carrier will be set up before the busy summer season in 2024.

That was before PR campaign orchestrated by Amelia. After the release of the research for a month every news site was doing interviews with them how perfect they are. So my guess is that A LOT happened behind the scenes

      From 24ur article:
O terminskem načrtu danes ni želela govoriti, saj da še ni pripravljen. "Bolj natančen okvir, kako naprej, bo znan jeseni," je povedala.

So pretty much 2025 is out of the question it seems. It really looks like early start is possible

Fantastic news for the average Slovenian taxpayer, indeed. The same people who destroyed the airline and burdened the taxpayers with it for years are now going to be able to do it all over again! Truly wonderful.

Exactly, the same corrupt and incapable gang. They would rather push the new railways- and bus station in Ljubljana or in places like Bled, Kranj. The LJU project is apparently again delayed.

And in the so called "Green-Slovenia" we still miss trams in LJU and not to talk about the poor railways infrastructure in general.

Is it? every kind of transportation is very important for state economy, I really don't see difference between public rail/bus transportation and air transportation from LJU AP. Everyone of them is giving it's share to state economy.

Anon 12:50: you have no idea what public interest is and why it needs to be financed with public money. For instance: large sum is deducted from my salary for health system. I have not used it in last 30 years, but would not like to live un system, where there is no public health system. Affirdable publuc transport system is part of solution for plethora of problems we are facing now (economical, environmental, political…). It seems you sre one of the neolibs, who religiously belive free maret solves everything, but reality begs to differ: in times of crisis almost all private companies cry for financial bailiouts (not loans) from the same state, they so fanatically want to keep away from any kind of interference. Basically they ask for free hands in good times and free money in rough times. So spare us with “not with my money” mantra

also air connectivity is a part of public servis that the country offers to the citizens and economy. Maybe they should rethink the model of financial support of companies that would like to develop business out of Slovenia. We have those that never fly, we have those that never take a train or a bus... but to be part of the green society we have to start to follow a strategy that will reduce the co2 but will connect the country on a smart way. I hope this time they decide for a good business model and not to big fleet!

If Amelia becomes a partner then the Croatian government MUST find a solution for OU. Amelia is no joke and they know what they are doing. They will no doubt set up a serious operation at Brnik. Very, very good news for Slovenian aviation.

Yea, but the paradix is, that high frequencies from small coutry reqire small aircraft (making small yield on the route or even loss) or much larger pax pool. Adria had both (pool being transfer pax from Kosovo and North Macedonia) and they left it to sharks (both within and outside company).

When it comes to profit or loss there is so many different factors which influence to final result. I still believe that if JP would work closely with government (reducing cost at airport, reduced prices of fuel, ...) then it would make profit without any issues. But JP always paid highest cost and when other companies had profit of few MIO, JP had loss at same amount.
