Belgrade’s largest airlines by scheduled seat capacity, August 2023
BEG 5.107.975
ReplyDeleteSOF 4.787.788
SKG 4.706.261
BUD: 1,459,904
BEG: 932.162
I don't think the two airports ever came this close outside of COVID era. Congratulations to BEG.
TIA 4.614.511
DeleteBelgrade is with every month further from TIA despite the wishes of some neighbours.
"I don't think the two airports ever came this close outside of COVID era. Congratulations to BEG."
DeleteThere was a time when BEG had more passengers than BUD.
Of coruse BEG is and will be further then TIA, bravo Srbija!
DeleteSince the beginning of the year, literally every month, some "neighbors" worry about how Tirana will overtake Belgrade. At the same time, ignoring how their "prestigious" airport was literally overrun by both Belgrade and Tirana.
Delete+100
Delete@18:20
DeleteUhmm, it's actually the other way round. In July, TIA had 67,049 less PAX than BEG, in August only 46,806 PAX less, so you can say every month TIA is closer to BEG. ;)
I see that difference is increased with every month and not decreased :)
DeleteActually it's only our neighbors that are constantly comparing BEG and TIA. Everyone else in Serbia is focused on BUD now that we overtook SOF and SKG. Actually the difference with SKG is quite big right now.
DeleteA lot of the growth in TIA is fueled because european tourists are switching from Croatia to Albania.
DeleteActually a lot of them are going to Albania because of the FR-W6 war and because tickets are unreasonably cheap.
DeleteWhat? FR hasn't even started yet
DeleteUp until the end of AUG:
DeleteBEG 5.107.975
BUD 9.615.000
That won't be easy to overcome.
Great achievement for Serbia and BEG to be in front of TIA. Bravo Srbija!
DeleteBravo!
ReplyDeleteThis is really great. in September we might have some 750K. How is OTP doing?
ReplyDeleteMaybe even 780k
DeleteNo data available yet. Despite Blue Air going bankrupt, Wizz Air is doubling capacity and now has 16 based aircraft. Hi Sky took several regular routes. They also have a pretty big charter program from OTP.
DeleteTill July...
Delete"In the first six months of 2023, the busiest airport in Romania was passed by 6,796,028 passengers, which is 6.1% more than in 2022, but 5.3% less than in 2019."
I expect Bucharest to have more passengers than that. It's not bad but not wow either.
DeleteWell, without strong national carrier there's only so much you can do

@ex yu
ReplyDeleteYou informed that after July 2023 BEG had 4.188.703 pax https://www.exyuaviation.com/2023/08/belgrade-airport-registers-busiest-july.html
If we add August numbers (932.165) the final number Jan-Aug is
4.188.703 + 932.165 = 5.120.868 and not 5.107.975
5120766 is correct
Delete8 millionth passenger in 2023?
ReplyDelete7 million
DeleteMaybe 7,6
DeleteRealistic estimate based upon the upcoming winter schedule is around 7.9m
DeleteDon't forget that JU will have a huge winter expansion. 441 weekly flights compared to 299 last year.
Wow its really close to BUD. OTP no but BUD maybe yes! We'll get to them!
ReplyDeleteNot very close but getting closer.
DeleteBUD: 9.615.000
BEG: 5.107.000
However BUD was always some 60% ahead of BEG while now the difference was brought down to 53%. If this winter turns out to be good then BEG can bring it down to less than 50%.
Lol
DeleteYou Loled when we said BEG was going to overtake Sofia.
DeleteThis is impressive Belgrade!!!! Well done neighbors!
ReplyDeleteHow many passengers will get in September? 600 000?
ReplyDeleteMaybe 650.000.
Delete647 was 2019.
Delete800.000
DeleteImpossible.
Delete740.000
DeleteLol 740k. In your dreams maybe.
DeleteIt will be around 800. Maybe above.
This article is about a big morning news story. Maybe tomorrow morning we will expect good news!
ReplyDeleteThis article about how many pax BEG got in August.
DeleteInteresting, LH has huge 50% more capacity than TK.
ReplyDeleteTK capacity doesnt matter. they joined into deal with JU that they will split the profits on the routes between BEG and Constantinople.
DeleteAt least i think that what was reported on this blog
No that was not reported. It was reported they are exploring a joint venture but they have not yet agreed to a joint venture..
Delete@Anonymous 21:59
DeleteNow it's Istanbul, not Constantinople.
...Why they changed it I can't say
People just liked it better that way...
It doesn't really matter since both Istanbul and Constantinople are words originating in the Greek language. Slavic term for the city is Цариград/Carigrad/Carihrad.
Delete@ 17:46
DeleteIt matters because They might be giants!
@Golub - HAHAHA I think I'm the only one to get what you were saying ;) - Even old New York was once New Amsterdam...
DeleteCongrats BEG!! Very impressive.
ReplyDeleteI'm fairly certain the airport will finish the year at over 7 million. Do you think it could reach 7.5 mill?
2019 in last four months there were 2,054 milion passangers, this year BG airport is going with +24% more than 2019, so yes 7,5 milion is probably as min.
DeleteLJU is selling like crazy, noon flight is extremely popular, just look how fast prices are growing. I hope JU increases it to 21 in summer.
ReplyDeleteThat promotion that JU just ran for cheap seats will no doubt have a large impact. We made 3 family trips just because of it.
