NEWS FLASH
Sarajevo Airport handled a record 75.112 passengers in February, representing an increase of 31.8% on the same month last year. During the first two months, the airport welcomed 156.566 travellers through its doors, representing a year-on-year increase of 29.2%. Sarajevo Airport is set for a record 2024 summer season, with a dozen new routes to launch in the coming months.

People used to travel to Tuzla and now vice versa SJJ is seeing growth since the collapse of TZL. IMO As it should be, the capital airport should be the busiest.

I think it was completely absurd for TZL to have 15 destinations with Wizz Air to Germany and Scandinavia from TZL and SJJ to have 5 flights a day in winter. TZL ate from SJJ. I think Wizz made the right decision to open the base at SJJ but closed it because TZL was in close proximity. In the end, he withdrew and from Tuzla ( the mismanagement of the airport). If he had left the base in SJJ and closed TZL at the same time they wouldn't be like they are now.
DeleteThe new lounge is nice there but still I felt on my times there recently they need to think about arrivals. Long queues and disorderly with passengers coming from different directions for passport control.

DeleteThat part of the airport is still in expansion. Lack of border control personnel is an issue, that's something the state has to do for them since they declare the personnel quotas per each crossing, not the airport.
DeleteNot much on the subject, but it's about the cargo flights from SJJ: What happened to that Icar Air Saab 340 with Bosnian registration, is it still in Sofia? And who flies to LJU/ZAG right now?

DeleteNo, PGS mostly transfers to Ankara, Antalya and also some flights to Georgia, Jordan and Egypt.
DeleteThere is also a lot of point to point passenger between Sarajevo and Istanbul (Bosnian and Turkish tourists, workers, some business travelers,…)

Sarajevo is a cool city, but the local apparatchiks are quite lazy and manage to sabotage the whole airport. Of course, flights to the middle east are a great opportunity, but cannot be a sole focus market. Istanbul is pretty good, as hub that connects the world with eastern destinations. However, Sarajevo needs further connections to European cities. Really unbelievable, that you cannot fly directly to cities like Munich, Barcelona, Paris or Rome from Sarajevo. Hope I am right about the listed destinations, would be embarrassing to write things, which do not apply. In the end, no one asks for connections like Sarajevo – Vadso or Sarajevo – Brac, which would be interesting to see.

DeleteIt is clear that anything other than Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Scandinavia, as well as the Istanbul hub, cannot work..... Brussels, Rome, Paris, Madrid, Amsterdam... these are only attempts, there are no passengers, London it works because of the many new British tourists.
