NEWS FLASH

Eurowings restored flights between Dusseldorf and Mostar on Saturday following a seven-year hiatus. The subsidised service will initially be maintained once per week, increasing to two weekly from July 16, after which it will return to a weekly rotation from September 6 until the end of the summer season on October 25. The carrier will also introduce services from Stuttgart to Mostar on June 14, resuming flights between the two cities after six years.

Commenting on the new route, the Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, said, “This marks the final piece of the puzzle, at least for this season. A tremendous amount of work has gone into reviving Mostar Airport, and, over the past two years, we’ve achieved excellent results. This season, we’re expecting record-breaking numbers in the airport’s history. The launch of flights to Dusseldorf and the upcoming Stuttgart route with Eurowings will be the highlight of that success story”. The CEO of Mostar Airport, Marko Djuzel, added, “The long-awaited flight is finally here - and to be honest, we didn’t expect it to be this full. Today, 150 passengers and three children are departing from Mostar, and 144 arrived on the inbound flight, which has a capacity of 150 seats. That’s a load factor of over 95%, and we’re absolutely thrilled. This is one of the key routes, alongside Stuttgart, which Eurowings will also serve. Dusseldorf is especially important because it’s a major hub for onward connections, while Stuttgart is crucial for our diaspora living in Germany. If these flights prove successful, we hope to see a third route added next year”.

More like 11. Charters aren't scheduled and generally don't count, but nevertheless help the local economy. A big improvement since last year and the year before. Hopefully we eventually get some Poland and UL charters or even flights

Yes, but it is still below Herzegovina's potential. They need time to get Herzegovinians to use this airport again. Split and Dubrovnik developed much earlier.

Cry about it all you want, it's what brings in tourists and life to the region. Without Medjugorje there would be no Italy or Ireland flights

I’m okay with the Medjugorje phenomenon, but not with those people pretending to be religious while trying to avoid paying taxes. It’s just unbelievable how low the reported tourist numbers are in Medjugorje.

A best possible third route by the LH group would be Air Dolomiti with E190 replacing SkyAlps for MUC. SkyAlps could then do Vienna instead. Although a third Eurowings route will eventually happen, if these succeed, rather than a route by another LH group airline.

Hahahahaha very soon Mostar will join Ohrid, Niš, Banja Luka, Tuzla, Zadar, Osijek, even Kraljevo (last month figures) to overtake Rijeka, the airport which till recently had at least some traffic, was the second airport in ex-yu after LJU to get Easyjet, it even had flights to Tel Aviv and New York. Bravo Palalalalić, congratulations!
