PHOTOS: Eurowings returns to Mostar

Eurowings restored flights between Dusseldorf and Mostar on Saturday following a seven-year hiatus. The subsidised service will initially be maintained once per week, increasing to two weekly from July 16, after which it will return to a weekly rotation from September 6 until the end of the summer season on October 25. The carrier will also introduce services from Stuttgart to Mostar on June 14, resuming flights between the two cities after six years.

Commenting on the new route, the Mayor of Mostar, Mario Kordić, said, “This marks the final piece of the puzzle, at least for this season. A tremendous amount of work has gone into reviving Mostar Airport, and, over the past two years, we’ve achieved excellent results. This season, we’re expecting record-breaking numbers in the airport’s history. The launch of flights to Dusseldorf and the upcoming Stuttgart route with Eurowings will be the highlight of that success story”. The CEO of Mostar Airport, Marko Djuzel, added, “The long-awaited flight is finally here - and to be honest, we didn’t expect it to be this full. Today, 150 passengers and three children are departing from Mostar, and 144 arrived on the inbound flight, which has a capacity of 150 seats. That’s a load factor of over 95%, and we’re absolutely thrilled. This is one of the key routes, alongside Stuttgart, which Eurowings will also serve. Dusseldorf is especially important because it’s a major hub for onward connections, while Stuttgart is crucial for our diaspora living in Germany. If these flights prove successful, we hope to see a third route added next year”.
