NEWS FLASH
Air Serbia handled 476.435 passengers in June, representing an increase of 8.5% on the same month last year or an extra 37.384 travellers. The number of operated flights stood at 4.669, up 4.5%. During the first half of the year, the Serbian flag carrier welcomed two million travellers, up 7% on 2024.
Speaking to public broadcaster RTS yesterday, Air Serbia’s General Manager Commercial and Strategy, BoÅ¡ko Rupić, said, "The plans we set for this year are, based on current indicators, developing exactly as envisioned and intended. This year, we’ve also introduced new destinations, which is further contributing to passenger growth. Overall, the first half of the year is something we can definitely be satisfied with across several key parameters - whether it’s cabin load factor, expanded fare options, the number of operated flights, or the volume of passengers carried". He added, “We are currently seeing around 7% growth for the first half of the year. Booking trends for the upcoming period support our projection of reaching approximately 4.7 million passengers, which is significantly higher than the figures once achieved by the former JAT in a country of 23-24 million people. That is definitely something we can be proud of today".
Still no charters to Zanzibar or Kenya. This will be profitable. Most of airports in Eastern European countries and Balkans have charters.
ReplyDeleteYeah that's up to agencies, not JU
DeleteI have a question, can someone tell me what kind of passengers we have on the flights to Krakow and the Italian destinations(Bari, Naples, Catania...)? I wonder if they are tourists?
ReplyDeleteKrakow mostly transfers, Italian destination carry some transfers from Romania and Albania but substantial local traffic as well
DeleteThank you
DeleteI'm from Serbia, and will fly to Carania and return from Palermo for holiday, this September, with a group of 3 pax. Small sample, I know :)
DeleteLet us know how your trip was.
DeleteWhy would Albanians fly there or Italians when they can directly fly to Albania? Albania has probably destination to more than 10 Italian cities, which js a lot. And the tickets are very cheap
DeleteConvenience, price, timing.
DeleteAh yes, surely flying via BEG is a lot more convenient and cheap.
DeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteThis means about 900k at BEG in June. July and Avgust above million for sure
ReplyDeleteHow many did BEG have last June?
DeleteAnonymous 11:44 , there is an article here in ex-yu aviation saying that the available seats on july at BEG are 1.080.000 . You mean to tell me that the load factor in july would be at least 95% ??? Come on !! Get real !
DeleteThat figure is without charter flights. You can calm down now.
DeleteOk anon 15:18 , then we have just got wait and see ! My prediction 950.000 ....charters included .
DeleteThere aren't as many charters as before since JU turned many of them into scheduled services. Only Egypt, Tunis and Turkey are left as charter destinations.
DeleteKavala, Skiathos, Preveza, Cephalonia, Zakynthos, Hurghada, Marsa Matruh, Antalya, Dalaman, Bodrum and Monastir in June alone.
DeleteOnly 5-10 per day
DeleteTomorrow 151 scheduled landings at BEG. Surely new record
DeleteWhere is taken cover picture? It is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI think it was taken at Skiathos, The Hellenic Republic.

DeleteSkiathos is in Greece
DeleteHellenic Republic is Greece's official name.
DeleteHello guys, currently I am writing term paper on topic "Air Serbia's strategic development". Can somebody tell me where I can get info about load factor on routes? Or those info you know only based on interviews of companies management? And what are routes to Belgrade with most transfer passengers? I remember that those were Skopje and Podgorica/Tivat, is situation still same?
ReplyDeleteCHAT GPT SAYS:
DeleteThe latest available data indicate that Air Serbia's cabin load factor – essentially the percentage of seats filled on its flights – has been running in the mid-70% range:
March 2025: achieved a 74% load factor, up 3 percentage points compared to March 2024

.
Q1 2023: the load factor averaged 71.8%, marking their best performance for that quarter since relaunching in 2013

📊 Summary Table
Period Load Factor
March 2025 74%
All of 2024 ~74.6%
Q1 2023 ~71.8%
What this means:
A load factor of ~70–75% is solid by airline industry standards – it suggests that flights are being filled efficiently and operating at a likely profitable level, as many airlines aim for a break-even load factor in that same range.

The most transfer-heavy route for Air Serbia via its Belgrade hub (BEG) is Podgorica ↔ New York (JFK). According to OAG data for 2024, this origin–destination pair has the highest number of passengers connecting through Belgrade on their way to or from the U.S.

Here are some key stats:
On the New York – Belgrade route, 58% of travelers are connecting passengers—and a significant part of those (notably from Podgorica) use BEG rather than direct U.S. airports .
Other notable feeder cities include Tirana, Skopje, Athens, Tivat, and Moscow, but none surpass Podgorica in transfer volume
