NEWS FLASH
Low cost carrier Pegasus Airlines has suspended two of its three routes to Podgorica following a sharp decline in demand after Montenegro halted visa-free entry for Turkish nationals. The airline has discontinued services from both Ankara and Izmir to Podgorica, but will continue operating flights from Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen to the Montenegrin capital for the time being. Turkish Airlines and Air Montenegro have not made any changes to their schedules so far.

And it has started
ReplyDeleteexpected after that decision
ReplyDeletebtw those Ankara flights could be immediately transfered to some other ExYu airport
They can't just shift capacity where ever they want. It depends on agreements with each country on how air travel is regulated.
DeleteESB-SKP is coming.
DeleteI think Turkey has open skies with some of them
DeleteLJU ?
ReplyDeleteThey've expressed interest before iirc but that's about it
DeleteTK will cut its frequencies too ,its just matter of time, they will not sustain current flights without turkish citizens , Podgorica is small market to be relied only on home travellers to fill up TK planes
ReplyDeleteImplementing visas for any nation is a huge bite for a small country such as Montenegro thay lives from tourism. Of someome did any problem or incidemt such in this case , your job is to prevenent that people involved in it , not cutting visa free for all country. This will have huge impact on their economy , losing flights is just beggining of what comes next. My opinion this is huge mistake!
ReplyDeleteIn the long run, the impact on Montenegrin economy will be smaller than the impact of tens of thousands or even more Turkish citizens abusing the visa free regime and moving to a tiny country like Montenegro. I have been to Montenegro more than 20 times this year, the number of Turkish people who moved there recently (at least in the coastal cities) is abnormal, and the locals are very unhappy about it.
DeleteSame as Russians did in all montenegrian coast , turks definitely are not in the same level as them ;)
Delete@16.27 using the locals to project on them your thoughts about it.
DeleteWell the reason surely isn't pretty but all Western Balkan countries will need to impose visas on Turkey/Turkiye by 1.1.2027 in order to align with the EU visa policy or they risk losing visa free access to Schengen states
Deleteturkish tour agencies are in such a stress all these popular circular Balkan tours now have to be updated
ReplyDeleteDo Turks need visas for SLO, does anyone know?
DeleteOf course. They are banned from whole EU. Now they can enter Serbia, BiH, Macedonia, Albania only
DeleteThey are not 'banned' they need a visa. Stop writing nonsense.
Deletetragical that its coming from someone who needed a visa until 10years too
DeleteGreen passport holders don't need a visa, millions of public servants, teachers, doctors etc. possess this type of passport.
DeleteMontenegro comes out the winner in this one!
ReplyDelete16:21 - I agree, although I am afraid that the impact of the visa free regime can not be reversed so easily and quickly, Montenegro is already swarmed by the Turkish.
ReplyDeleteIf someone did mistake judge him , not all nation , I am not a turkish , just saying the impact they will feel later , losing such a tourists is not welcomed decision for me
ReplyDeleteThe European Union will be very pleased with the Montenerin government.
ReplyDeleteAnti-immigrant sentiment and also rejection of foreigners is very popular move now with European voters.
Montenegro focusing on tourist inflows from Eu-member states is the prefered policy.
Turkish people are most welcome in north macedonia, and all other tourists as well.
ReplyDeleteThere are already flights to SKP from mentioned cities. This most probably gonna boost the frequencies.
