Zagreb Airport handled 4.721.564 passengers in 2025, representing its busiest year on record. The figure marks an increase of 9.4% in 2024 or an additional 404.945 travellers. The number of aircraft movements stood at 51.664, up 3.4%. During 2025, Croatia Airlines was the largest carrier by available seats, just ahead of Ryanair, while the Airbus A320 was the most common aircraft type at Zagreb Airport. During the year, Croatia’s capital was most connected with Frankfurt, followed by Dubrovnik, Split and Munich.

That's how you increase passenger numbers.
Stop with the OU capacity increase. OU can triple its capacity and fly A380s, it would still not see passenger growth because they charge 250 euros for a 30-minute flight to Sarajevo.
DeleteYou don't need new destinations to see growth. Ryanair is adding frequencies with aircraft from other bases. Also, Ryanair replacing two-weekly Pisa flights with extra Dublin flights will add a few thousand passengers because Dublin flights are 98% full whereas Pisa was something like 70% full.
DeleteRyanair is also cancelling some routes, so 5 mil will be difficult to achieve. Pisa is not the only one that has been cancelled.

DeleteUnfortunately, no good news for ZAG. Not even one new destination by OU or FR, but actually 3 destinations less. And the end of FR subsidies by the end of the year. Doesn’t sound good at all
Actually it sounds pretty good. Routes that people don't fly on are going, and routes that people want to fly on like Palma or Palermo are going up in frequencies.
Delete5 million will be reached easily, it's just 280k additional passengers.

ReplyDeleteGreat numbers for sure. I notice that QR has issues in ZAG too just like they have in most European destinations. Is it just their narrowbody fleet issues or is it something else?
ReplyDeleteNarrow body fleet issues which are made worse by them trying to launch as many Saudi routes as possible (with A320s) because they fear that in a few years they will be unable to get slots to any of these places.

DeleteLufthansa added an overnight flight to Munich and added bigger aircraft on the Frankfurt routes. It was operated by Airbuses all summer.
