Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport is planning to refurbish part of Terminal 1 with the addition of a new gate, while expansion works at Terminal 2 continue to progress. Serbia’s Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure has issued location conditions to the airport for the reconstruction and adaptation of part of Terminal 1 to create a new international bus gate. The area slated for refurbishment is located on the ground floor of the A wing corridor section of the terminal building. Terminal 1 currently has two gates serving remote stands, A7a and A7b, with the planned works set to add a third exit, A7c. The project will be carried out within the airport’s existing footprint, with no structural expansion, and will involve reconfiguring interior space as well as adding a new exit on the apron-facing facade.

Meanwhile, work on Terminal 2’s expansion is progressing, with efforts focused on three new gates, which includes three airbridges and four additional aircraft stands. Together with the T1 and T2 upgrades, the airport will have 37 gates in total. New gates C15 to C18 are being added to the C wing, with C15-C17 featuring airbridges, while C18 will be a remote bus gate for Code C aircraft with a maximum 36-metre wingspan. The project also includes a Taxiway T extension linking C18 to the wider taxiway and de-icing system, new service roads, upgraded stormwater drainage, apron pavement works, external lighting with 22-metre LED masts, new power and control systems, as well as four travelators inside the terminal, split between departures and arrivals.

Landside, construction of Air Serbia’s new headquarters opposite the airport is progressing on schedule, with work now focused on installing glass panels on the building’s exterior. The structure will have a total gross area of 7.985 square metres and will match the height of the adjacent Aviation Museum. Completion is scheduled for May 15, 2027. The development will also feature landscaped green areas and an open-air car park in the north-western section of the site with 140 spaces, including six designated for persons with reduced mobility. A new ring road and access street are being built alongside the complex, providing a link to the future airport rail station currently under construction. At the same time, foundations have been laid for a planned airport hotel, also being developed by Air Serbia, while an additional business building within the complex is expected to follow at a later stage. Preparations are also underway for the overhaul and expansion of the Aviation Museum.

T1 is protected as architectural heritage and can't be changed structurally. Also, I believe that mosaics in the interior are also protected, so the only possible change is some restauration and changes in the way the space inside is used.

They should do something with the whole new C corridor. I came 10 days ago when it was raining. There were backets (kofe) placed all along the C concourse, every 10-15 meters, in different collours (blue, red, yellow), picking up the rain drops falling from the ceiling. People joked that it might be an artistic installation after all.

Airport is just a bit smaller than Belgrade and was full of passengers waiting to board leading airlines from North America and couple from Europe. Maintenance crew positioned some buckets and not a single passenger objected. Your inexperience is showing with those laughable comments, repeating every time positive news are published about BEG/JU.

^ no chance. If they really do extend the C concourse on the other side of the building there is no way even in theory to connect the hotel to the terminal, not that they would have done it either way since you would need a very long enclosed bridge going over parking and the road.

Considering that they are named terminal 1 and 2, do they have two separate check in desks, two security screening etc? Or they are just used to denote the two concourses linked to one arrivals/departures processing center?

Yes, they have two separate check in areas. They had two separate secury screening until a year and a half ago when they built the central processing buldings and centralised security schecks.

They now use the former security check in T1 for staff security check I believe.

I do believe that unique opportunity was missed to add a 2nd runway when they resurfaces the existinf runway.

As long as it remains fast to move through i'll be happy. Its never gonna win an award for design or the project as a whole. But it remains a nice enough place to pass through.

I'm wonder what happened to the old split flap departure board which was upstairs in Terminal 2. They are extremely valuable these days and it would be a shame if it's been destroyed. It would make a great addition to the main Tesla hall if found and restored.

Tri posebno znacajna projekta su u toku gradnje. Na prvom mestu je gradnja Novog Hotela. Drugo po znacaju jeste dolazak voza na Terminal. Na trecem jeste Nova Direkcija Ar Srbije. Znacajno je i dodatak tri nova gejta. Potrebno je jos tri mosta. Verovatno nema vise mesta u tom pravcu?. Muzej Vazduhoplovstva ce biti dostojan sadrzaj. Dok stari kontrolni toranj izgleda neprihvatljivo za svu transformaciju. Kroz koju prolazi Aerodrom do EXPO 27.

would be great if they'd reactivate old Terminal 1 passport gates, that are now used only by cabin crews and pilots.

is there a plan what will they do with old tower? it would be fantastic if they'd convert it to observation deck with caffe/restaurant.

They will definitely not reactivate T1 passport gates. The whole point of the T2 rework was to make all checks centralised.

If you mean for people flying on private flights, yes there is. There is a whole area underneath the C wing, with a lounge and security for them where they avoid mixing with other passengers.

If you mean priority passport control and security for passengers on regular flights, yes there is a priority lane at the airport.

I was at the Airport on 25.5. Two out of three peoplemovers between C7 and C13 were not in function. The Airport was full at the time(around 16:30).
I posted this problem on other aviation forum and I got the answer that peoplemovers on Belgrade Airport are not reliable, as they are often out of order.

I am really amazed how bad they handled remote gates in general at BEG. First, the two departure areas, C10 and A7, could not be farther from security, whereas the point here would be to have the remote gates as close as possible to passport control. You have to walk the distance of the whole airport, just to find yourself on a bus.

Arrivals are a mess as well, or OSS arrivals to be precise. Having to take the stairs from the apron to get to the arrivals floor, just to make a circle and go down again to the point where you started from 10 minutes beforehand. They could have just made a way to separate pax on arrival and send those who exit at BEG directly to passport control.

You should travel more if you think remote gates at airports are located next to passport control.

And how exactly do you suggest they separate transfers and arriving passengers on the apron? You have to go up the stairs if you arrive at a remote gate regardless of whatever you are in Vienna, Frankfurt, Doha or Belgrade.

I am amazed that you are giving yourself the right to question Vinci's airport architecture, after more than 70 successful airports build worldwide. Do you really think that anyone should ask you for advice, before invest their own 150 million Euros to new construction?

I think that both the airport and AirSerbia have done a good job in Serbia. I dare to predict that Serbia will become dominant in the region.
