NEWS FLASH

Ryanair is extending its check-in and bag drop deadlines from November 10. At all airports served by the airline, these will now close sixty minutes before scheduled departure, up from the current forty minutes, in order to provide passengers with more time to clear security and passport control queues. This comes as Ryanair installs more self-service bag-drop kiosks across its network, with over 95% of airports having these kiosks by October. These self-service kiosks are fully integrated with the Ryanair app, giving passengers the ability to check in bags and print bag tags, which speeds up bag-drop and cuts waiting times. “This latest improvement will give these 20% of Ryanair guests who wish to check-in a bag, slightly more time to get through airport security and passport queues and arrive at their departure gate before boarding starts. The remaining 80% of passengers who don’t check-in bags are unaffected and will continue to check-in online (before they arrive at the airport) and go straight to their departure gate when they arrive”, Ryanair said in a statement.

So basically stealing 20 minutes is portrayed as an improvement?

20 more minutes to reflect on your life choices, airline choice in particular. Or maybe to spend it in Duty Free.

Practically nobody gets to the airport 40 minutes before their flight if they have luggage. This is not a meaningful change for most people.

Awful. I also don’t agree with this: “These self-service kiosks are fully integrated with the Ryanair app, giving passengers the ability to check in bags and print bag tags, which speeds up bag-drop and cuts waiting times.” It means us doing the work for them while paying them for it. It’s also the reason why these times are being extended. People struggle doing it whereas the employees before did it faster.

This is a massive downgrade in service and it shows the level of disrespect airlines (especially FR) have for their passengers. Not to mention having to wait even longer at airports now, when you struggle to find a seat at most of them. Flying really is just an unpleasant chore these days.

FR is done. They are just refusing to accept the truth. Their way of business is EOL (end of life). Either they will adapt or they will vanish

Ryanair are best avoided. By the time you have payed for extras and been penalised by them you can fly stress free with a much better Airline such as Air Serbia, Croatia Airlines or Lufthansa group and save money also.

One of you is blaming Ryanair for there being no seats at airports, the other one is calling time of death on an airline that is the biggest in Europe and growing faster than all its major competitors.

@17:34 I never blamed FR for lack of seats. That’s obviously the responsibility of airports.

Do people across the world miss points so profoundly as in the Balkans as well, or is this just specific to our region??

Ugh, one of the things I loved about Ryanair is coming last minute as long as it's not a major transportation hub. I hate wasting time waiting for planes. And yes, sometimes there aren't enough seats (Zadar).
