Belgrade - Podgorica remained the busiest intra-ex-YU route, with Air Serbia and Air Montenegro jointly carrying 356.896 passengers, up 9.4% year-on-year. Meanwhile, Belgrade - Tivat handled 328.420 travellers, marking an improvement of 3.7%. Belgrade was Podgorica’s busiest route in 2025, ahead of Istanbul, which had 290.827 passengers, while it was also Tivat’s largest market, ahead of Tel Aviv with 201.531 travellers. In addition, two seasonal routes are operated between Serbia and Montenegro, linking Tivat with both Niš and Kraljevo.
Would it make sense for AirMontenegro and AirSerbia to establish some kind of a joint venture on the route? Split revenue in half, operate it bilaterally and that's it? What would be the downsides?
ReplyDeletewhat would be the benefits?
DeleteThey could do a "bus" service that connects to either network, and pax don't have to go on two different sides to see all of the flights availabl for start. I also think that Air Serbia would be happy to offload those flights to 40 over the summer if the revenue was split
DeleteOffload? Are you serious? JU generates the bulk of these passengers and carries all transfer traffic. Montenegro is a cash cow for them. Why would they offload passengers, revenue and profits to Air Montenegro?
DeleteGod no. Serbia or Air Serbia don't need this kind of parasitic cooperation. JU has nothing to gain from that. JU should try to introduce night flights to TGD once they allow it.
DeleteAbsolutely not, the prices are not cheap at all right now. By creating a monopoly on the route it would be even higher
DeleteOh yeah because Air Montenegro is pushing fares down. Lol
DeleteFares can't be cheap because various taxes are €70 so that's what every passenger pays to the airport, government etc
Damn, didn’t know Tivat was so popular in Israel, that must be a lot of Israelis having a vacation on the Montenegrin coast.
ReplyDeleteA lot of Israeli tourists. Albania also is so popular last years.
ReplyDelete....In Israel
DeleteI always wonder why routes between Belrade and Tivat/Podgorica are so popular? Were they also popular in YU-times?
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think?
DeleteHalf of Montenegro lives in Belgrade to start with.
DeleteAnd driving is horrid (beautiful) but horrid.
DeleteYes. Although they shared the cake with Ćilipi.
DeleteAnd half of those half are in Vrachar/Врачар lol
DeletePlus over 30% of the population declares them as Serbs and over 50% say they speak Serbian.
Driving is not really horrid anymore.
DeleteBut its still slow enough that aviation is popular.
DeleteMilions of Serbian tourists visits Montenegro every year.
DeleteHopefully we will have HSR to Podgorica one day.
DeleteWhy would I spend 5 to 7 hours driving to Montenegro when the flight takes 35'?
DeleteFlying will always be popular
@16:41 none - or very few - of us will live to see that day i fear. Best we can get is watching 'Casino Royal' and its rather fully portray of HSR in Montenegro.
DeleteAs if it takes 'only' 35 minutes to fly to Montenegro. What about getting to the airport, arriving at least 1.5 hours before your departure time, potential delays especially in high season. Also, leaving the airport etc. So in reality it can take perhaps 4 hours to 'fly' from BEG to Montenegro.
DeleteThat is still significantly shorter than driving or taking the train.
Delete@17:28, If there is a delay then its a total pain the neck. But then again if there is even the slightest of problem on some of the roads to Montenegro the drive can turn into a voyage of epic proportions.
DeleteVreme da se uvede noćni let i to petak na subotu i nedelja na ponedeljak.
ReplyDeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteAn article with the busiest routes of exyu would be interesting. Not just intra exyu, but all destinations.
ReplyDeleteWould depend on the time of year but routes like London -Split will up there amongst the most during the summer.
