Armenian low cost carrier FlyOne Armenia will launch a new two weekly service between Yerevan and Belgrade during the upcoming winter season. Flights will commence on December 15 and operate on Tuesdays and Fridays with an Airbus A320 aircraft. The carrier will face no direct competition on the route. Tickets are now available for purchase through the airline’s website, while further flight details can be found here. Services are currently scheduled until the end of the 2026/27 winter season, in late March.
The new service will mark the first time the Serbian and Armenian capitals have been linked by scheduled nonstop flights. FlyOne Armenia commenced operations in 2021 and is affiliated with Moldova’s FlyOne. Based at Yerevan’s Zvartnots International Airport, the airline operates scheduled and charter flights to destinations across Europe, Russia and the Middle East, primarily using Airbus A320-family aircraft.
The development comes after Air Serbia said it plans to launch flights to Yerevan, following the success of its services to Tbilisi and Baku, both of which were introduced over the past year and a half. However, the Serbian carrier has also said it aims to attract more partner airlines to Belgrade, generating additional transfer traffic for its own network. FlyOne Armenia’s arrival time is timed to connect with Air Serbia’s afternoon departure wave.

ReplyDeleteI'm not confident this will work. I don't think there is enough P2P. It can work with Air Serbia due to transfers. Then again there is the Russian factor so maybe it can work for FlyOne. In any case if it fails for Flyone I'm sure Air Serbia would launch it themselves.

This company has found its niche making money off Russians and the diaspora who need to fly to/from Russia. In most cases, you’re paying a lot for what is essentially a low-cost airline experience, with some of the strangest online check-in rules I’ve ever encountered. But overall, of course, it’s still better than nothing

DeleteThey seem to love adding unnecessary extras and charging all sorts of unclear fees that you have to pay before the check-in will let you complete (the amounts are usually small but still) cause airport check-in is also paid. And in order to check in online, you have to create an account. But figuring all of this out and actually finding the relevant information on their website is a whole quest in itself
DeleteOf course, things may have changed by right now, but I’ve known this airline for about 10 years, and every now and then either I or my friends have to use it. Almost every time, there are some unexpected catches or little details you have to deal with when using their services
That said if you know what to expect and are prepared for these quirks, you can use them without much trouble when the price makes sense

They also fly to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan so that's another option for getting to central Asia.
I have to admit this airline is a very good addition to BEG and it will open up many markets that had little or no competition from us.

I wouldn't be surprised to see package tours for both Armenia and Georgia from serbia. I am sure this will be successful with tourists.

ReplyDeleteWhy are you glad that Air Serbia didn't launch the Yerevan route? After Tbilisi and Baku, Yerevan is the logical next step. I believe that Air Serbia will launch flights to Yerevan sooner or later. This LCC offers excellent transfer timings, so—combined with potential JU flights—it would make a significant contribution to feed traffic.

I opened the link, and it doesn't state anywhere that the frequencies have been increased. The only point is that the new route has been extended into the winter flight schedule, which we already knew beforehand.
