Wizz Air to launch Osijek service

NEWS FLASH

Wizz Air will launch flights from Basel to Osijek next summer, marking the carrier's second destination in Croatia following Split, which is served on a seasonal summer basis. Operations to Osijek will commence on May 19 and run twice per week, each Monday and Friday. The no frills airline previously said it maintains limited operations to Croatia as most of the country's airports are "too expensive". Further flight details for the new Osijek service can be found here.

Not really, the regional road to OSI is quite bad. Much easier to take the highway to BEG.

    2. Yes it's good news for people from west part of Vojvodina and South Hugary

Just watch me using ''bad regional road'' to that airport. For people from Sombor and Subotica even from Novi Sad Osijek airport will be great alternative to Belgrade airport and monopolistic, high price, Air Serbia...

I would say only Backa and places like Sombor. Novi Sad, Sid, Sremska Mitrovica will still gravitate towards BEG

As long as they have only one choice they will for sure gravitate towards Belgrade, but bout of us knows well that passingers in Serbia are not rich one so they will always choose cheeper option if they have option...

Etihad has chosen Osijek as its new base in Europe?

  6. Interesting to see so much growth at the Airlines that have some catchment area overlap with Belgrade, namely: Nis, Timisoara and now Osijek. None will ever pose a direct threat to Belgrade airport's main outgoing market , but they're chipping away at the edges.

    1. Not direct threat but great alternative. If LC airlines continues to grow flight network from Osijek, Timisoara and Nis, Belgrade and Air Serbia will definitely see passenger number decline on some routes. Competition is great for the market and it will force Air Serbia to lower their overpriced fares on some routes.

Those airports are a supplement not a replacemant for the passengers! It's crazy to think that BEG is the center...
