NEWS FLASH

Saudi Arabian Airlines will be adding its designator code and flight numbers onto Etihad Airways' service between Abu Dhabi and Belgrade starting next week. It comes after the two airlines announced a commercial partnership yesterday in areas including cargo and engineering, as well as codesharing. Etihad said the two airlines were also finalising discussions to see members of their frequent flier programmes offered reciprocal benefits and are exploring cargo cooperation between the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia. As of yesterday, Saudia passengers can book flights to Belgrade via the airline's website. Etihad maintains a daily service between the capitals of the UAE and Serbia with operations to increase to double daily between December 15, 2018 and January 13, 2019. Saudia becomes the eighth codeshare partner on Etihad's Belgrade service, joining Air Serbia, Air Seychelles, Jet Airways, Montenegro Airlines, Oman Air, Sri Lankan Airlines and Virgin Australia.

Deal between the tour operator and airline fell through. No other interested carrier was found.

Maybe the interest wasn't that big as I am sure they could have found another airline?

Most people don't realize how great this is. There is some demand between the two countries and it's mostly rich people. So far the only real option was TK. This will be some new great competition for them!

Are there really tourists coming to Belgrade from Saudi Arabia? They do need visas? As I know it is practically impossible to get visa to go there unless invited by business partner or going for a pilgrimage. Maybe that is changed now.
