Three EX-YU airports win service awards

NEWS FLASH

Skopje, Zagreb and Belgrade airports have all been recognised at the Airport Service Quality (ASQ) awards by Airports Council International (ACI). The awards highlight the world’s top 5% best airports as judged by their customers through certified interviewers, interviewing airport passengers and using a unique ACI/ASQ questionnaire throughout 2022.

Skopje

- Best airport in category two to five million passengers per year
- Most dedicated airport staff
- Easiest airport journey
- Most enjoyable airport
- Cleanest airport

Zagreb

- Best airport in category two to five million passengers per year
- Most dedicated airport staff
- Easiest airport journey

Belgrade

- Best airport in category five to fifteen million passengers per year
- Most dedicated airport staff
- Most enjoyable airport

Commenting on the accolades, the General Manager of operator TAV Macedonia, Metin Batak, said, “The ASQ program has brought us some key benchmarks for evaluation of services we offer to our passengers while they are at the airport. Since 2012 and throughout the years, we have been continually using it to improve the quality of our services. Based on passengers’ suggestions and comments, given during the ASQ survey, we’ve introduced free Wi-Fi at the airport, placed charging stations and opened an airside smoking room. Last year, we renovated the toilets at the airport, and we opened a new, revamped, duty free shop, with an extended assortment of products and brands. A few days ago, we opened the new renovated Cakes & Bakes restaurant. We are closely following ASQ data indicators, and we know there are more things to be done, in order to improve the overall passenger experience”.

The General Manager of Zagreb Airport, Huseyin Bahadir Bedir, said, “We are extremely proud of the fact that in 2022 Zagreb Airport has again been recognised and rewarded as the Best Airport in Europe within the group of two to five million passengers for service quality. We are especially happy that passengers recognised the dedication of our staff in their efforts to provide the best possible service and ensure a pleasant travel experience through Zagreb Airport’s passenger terminal. The summer flight schedule will begin soon, which marks the start of the application of the Schengen travel regime at airports in the Republic of Croatia. We believe that this change will improve the variety of commercial offerings, and thus to an even better travel experience for many of our passengers”.

These are paid awards, I assume this is a bit like Skytrax: If you use the services you will be nominated.

    From Wikipedia:

ACI first launched the Airports Excellence Program (APEX) in Safety in 2012.[13] The program provides assistance for airports to enhance their level of safety. It is based on airport safety review, which analyzes gaps in airport operation and infrastructure in comparison to International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards and safety best practices.[14] ACI organizes and dispatches an on-site team from ICAO and other airports to identify and remedy safety vulnerabilities through peer reviews, information sharing, training, assistance with implementation of management structures. It covers the setup, implementation and performance of the safety management system in the areas of physical characteristics & pavement management, air rescue and firefighting, wildlife management, apron management, documentation, record keeping, and security management systems.[15]

    But hey, congrats!

SKP is not the centre of the universe. Also, why attack his point of view after he has given you facts.

Most dedicated airport staff for BEG is a good joke.
Belgrade has some of the rudest and most unpleasant employees.

Then you are among of the rare people thinking that BEG employees are nice. They aren't. Due to my work, I fly out of BEG at least 3 times a month, and there was never a situation when I actually found even remotely polite person working there. They are rude, most of them are overworked and under paid, I even heard a guy who was taking an elderly lady in a wheelchair to her gate "You are giving just 200 RSD to me? What should I do with that? - Well buy coffee. I can't buy coffee for this money. Sorry Son, I don't have more" Ultimately, he just told her "and you have it for a ticket?"

It's pretty much how their mindset works.

Who in their right mind would call BEG enjoyable with all the construction mess last year?

Well, they got paid to conduct a survey and probably used the (positive) answers to determine which award they are suitable for.

I must agree. Polls, surveys and awards are often paid for or dishonest, at best. Just look at LH being a 5* airline! Forget it.

LH is 1 star airline. I would rather fly Air Burundi
