Aegean Airlines will commence a new seasonal service from Skopje this summer, the third to be maintained by the Greek carrier from the Macedonian capital. The airline will launch two weekly scheduled flights between Skopje and Corfu from June 1. The outbound service will run on Tuesdays and Saturdays, while the inbound flight is scheduled for Wednesdays and Sundays with the ATR72-600 turboprop aircraft, operated by Aegean’s regional brand Olympic Air. Tickets are now available for purchase through the carrier’s website. Flights on the new route will be maintained until September 28. Corfu will complement Aegean’s existing daily flights from Athens to Skopje, as well as its three weekly rotations from the Macedonian capital to Sarajevo.

Skopje has been firmly on Aegean’s radar over the past year. Apart from introducing flights between Skopje and Sarajevo, the Greek carrier has more than doubled its frequencies between Athens and Skopje from its initial three weekly service. Last year, Aegean Airlines applied for the Macedonian government's subsidy program for the introduction of new routes from Skopje but pulled out after the public call was declared void. It did not apply for the subsequent repeat of the tender.

Aegean Airlines’ Chief Commercial Officer, Roland Jaggi, recently said, “We continue to look for new connectivity in the Balkan region. With our high-quality services, we wish to promote interstate mobility, promote tourism, and strengthen trade relationships. We will continue developing our network and offer new connectivity opportunities in the region. This development offers opportunities for travellers to explore and experience diverse destinations with the convenience and reliability at the high standards Aegean is known for”.

Further details for the new Skopje - Corfu service can be found here.

    1. Anonymous12:03

thats a nice thought but that would eat some of Aegean's transfer pax on their daily ATH route and they would need to employ larger aircrafts.

I stil think they could open a base and connect SKP with all the capitals in the region without direct flights plus some seasonal flights like this one. just an idea

I am not sure how many of us use Aegean to connect in Europe. Idk why i think the planes to ATH are half empty. If they lower the prices then the p2p traffic will increase and people will start visit Athens via plane not with bus or car.

11:46 they can’t start a European network from SKP beacause that will harm their pretty good SKG network ( they’re launching SKG-AMS from October! ). What I can see from SKP is a Balkans network and some Greek destinations plus Larnaca. Which of course is amazing!

Its not OHR but OHD and its A319 not A320. Charter flights are not organised just for sports. There have been a few with Corendon Airlines and EnterAir from SKP to FRA last week. The Carpatair A319 flew from OTP to SKP and then to Trieste, after few days it returned back from Trieste to OHD and then back to OTP, it could be anything, its nothing special and nothing new, maybe people going for work or smth.

Actually only few of them are increasing frequencies. Turkish, Edelweiss, Chair, Air Serbia, Croatia Airlines, Norwegian, Austrian and Lufthansa will operate the same number of flights per week as last summer. easyJet with its Geneva service is reduced from four to twice per week, Pegasus will also offer the same number of flights from SAW and ADB as well as five times per week from AYT which is new route this summer plus additional charter flight from AYT on Sundays. So only LOT and Aegean are increasing the flights. A Jet is the same as last year with 7 weekly to AYT and twice a week to Bodrum, Air Cairo once a week to Hurghada, AMC Airlines twice a week to Hurghada and BH Airlines once a week to Hurghada. BH will also operate once per week to Djerba and Enfidha together with Nouvleair to Monastir twice per week. Freebird will also operate six times per week to Antalya, Sunexpress seven times a week to Antalya and three times to Izmir. Overall there will be 40 departures on certain days of the week which wasnt the case last summer when there were a max of 38 departures.

Its down yes but very minimum. Wizz had five planes at SKP last summer, the only difference is that some of them were A321s. That does not mean that this summer SKP wont achive new record numbers as the Wizz flights will be more full now then ever as they are cuted, plus five times a week with Pegasus from AYT is here to make the difference even smaller.

As they should! Mark my words when P&W problems will be solved I can see Aegean having a hub in SKP while their hub in LCA will return too. I can see a network from Skopje to Larnaca, Ljubljana, Bucharest, Podgorica and seasonal to Heraklion and Rhodes. Their only problem right now is their A320neos groundings due to P&W engines.

As I count SKP with this route will have 53 routes , and probably plus couple more this year , will easily reach close to 60 routes which for country as MKD is absolutely great. What miss in this moment is just better connectivity to thr main European hubs!

We would have had 65 if we still had Doha, Dubai, Larnaca, Barcelona, Turin, Hannover, Luxembourg, Vaxjo, Billund, Turku, St.Petersburg and Moscow.

Good job. Off topic, SKP has desperate connection to the airport from the city. Only one bus, which often misses it's rudimentary timetable and doesn't cover more than half of the city. Not to mention that it runs every 2-3 hours apart!!! Cmon! And that's barely for half the day! Where's the damned train connection to the airport that's been on the radar since always?! Only few kilometers kf track are needed, the line already passed nearby the airport!

While I agree that more must be done, the situation is not that bad. The official Taxis will charge 25€ for most of Skopje and 30€ for more distant parts of Skopje. Divide that by 3 pax and it is still much cheaper than most of the shuttle busses to European airports.
Furthermore Cameo is around 15€ to the airport which for a taxi service is quite cheap.

its 17€ I think. The thing is most foreign visitors dont bother taking the bus when they discover taxi costs only 25 (and even less when youre sharing as you said). The guy @3.05 should write to TAV instead of posting the same thing over and over here.

P.S buses are running according arrivals. While SKP has reached 2.8m, arrivals are not evenly distributed througout the whole day, thats why the gaps. You have periods with zero arrivals

They need to put one public bus from UJP to cover the airport , not that private shuttle bus. But yes connectivity with the train is more then needed.
