NEWS FLASH
Zagreb Airport reopened shortly after midnight following an almost ten-hour closure caused by a runway excursion involving a Cessna jet operated by Air Pannonia. The suspension of air traffic on Sunday afternoon and evening, which also disrupted some services on Monday morning, led to the cancellation of 59 flights, including 28 departures and 31 arrivals. The aircraft involved was not carrying any passengers at the time of the incident.
In a statement issued today, Zagreb Airport said, “There was no emergency alert declared at the airport. According to procedure for such incidents, an investigation had to be conducted first, followed by the aircraft recovery process. Since the damaged aircraft came to a stop on a dirt surface near the edge of the runway, the recovery process was complex and required specialised additional equipment and additional time to prevent further damage”. It added, “Zagreb Airport is equipped with the necessary technical equipment, which was utilised in this case. In such situations, procedures are followed in accordance with established protocols, which include assistance and coordination with external emergency services. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our special thanks to the Public Fire Department of Velika Gorica for their coordination and support”.
I wish it wasn't so.
ReplyDeleteNow comes the interesting part, who is to blame and who will pay all the costs caused by delays and rebookings.
ReplyDeleteInsurance.
DeleteAnd who pays the insurance?
DeleteDoes it matter who pays the insurance? It has been paid regardless.
DeleteIn the end, the passenger pays for the insurance.
DeleteWe all know this.
Everybody pays insurance, airlines, airports, passengers, business owners...
DeleteAnd all of these costs get passed down to the consumer/passenger.
DeleteNo kidding.
DeleteWhat time this incident happened, as I was departing Zagreb airport last night, my flight was delayed by 20 minutes. We didn't see any incident, so I am surprised about this news.
ReplyDeleteAt the time there was 4 other aircraft at the terminal, Lauda, Agean, another A220 OU and our flight.
It says in the first two sentences.
DeleteLast night was Monday night.
DeleteThe date the news was published is written at the bottom. Also this is the second sentence
Delete"The suspension of air traffic on Sunday afternoon and evening, which also disrupted some services on Monday morning, led to the cancellation of 59 flights, including 28 departures and 31 arrivals."
And even the original article from Sunday is linked. Some people just need to read.
Hi guys one question.
ReplyDeleteWe were supposed to be on a flight from Mallorca that should land around midnight. We were all boarded and seated. We waited for one hour on a plane in Mallorca. The told us that there is a possibility to land in Zagreb Vienna or Budapest. At the end they cancelled the flight. Airport opened at 00:52. thats one hour later than scheduled landing of ours. Ryanaiir didnt provide anything to use except the next fre flight that was in Wednesday Lol. Now 200 passengers needed to find their way out. Ryanair says they are not responsible. But the reality also is that crews working time was limited.
I am young flexible and fly alot of times and i requested Ryanair to book me a flight from Malaga to Zagreb in Monday so i needed to pay for a. hotel and ticket to Malaga. There were people pn board that paid fortune to get to neighbouring countries. Is there really nothing we can do about it?
