In an editorial, Ms Stapel said, “The Slovenian government as well as Fraport Slovenija continue to successfully implement tailored financial incentives to motivate airlines to start or enhance operations at Ljubljana Airport. These incentives, among others, have effectively reduced the financial risks for carriers establishing new routes. It is important to note, however, that these measures would have been insufficient without the presence of substantial untapped demand for travel in the market. This strategic initiative has led to the addition of more than eleven new destinations since 2023, most of which have achieved impressive load factors. Among the new routes for 2025 are Dusseldorf, Tirana, Las Palmas, and Manchester, with two more awaiting formal confirmation, one for the 2025/2026 winter schedule and another for the 2026 summer schedule. By 2025, Ljubljana Airport will have expanded its footprint across Europe and beyond to thirty destinations with a portfolio of 26 airlines”.
According to the CEO, Ljubljana Airport is set to offer its largest route network to date in 2026, surpassing the number of destinations served in 2019, when Adria Airways was still operating. “By 2026, the number of destinations served is projected to not only surpass the 2019 destinations but also reach an all-time record high for Slovenia, an incredible achievement that reflects our long-anticipated growth and expansion efforts”, Ms Stapel said. She added, “Early indicators point to Ljubljana Airport making substantial progress toward full recovery, both in operations and traffic performance, by 2026, highlighting its resilience and long-term growth trajectory”.
What could be the the other new route?
ReplyDeleteQatar Airways? 😁
DeleteHoping for Berlin
DeleteEasyjet EDI
DeleteDidn't EW say they will launch BER next year?
DeleteOnly if they are satisfied with DUS performance.
DeleteDoes anyone know how DUS is performing?
DeleteBravo LJU 🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮
DeleteDUS performance is terrible and is not coming back next year.
Delete@10:34 crystal ball info?
DeleteThe flights for next summer aren't on sale, so could be some truth to it
DeleteSo according to you Aegean, Air Montenegro, Air Serbia, easyjet, Eurowings, Iberia, Norwegian and Transavia will discontinue flights?
DeleteNo, those airlines didn't publish their summer schedule for most of the routes, whilst Eurowings for example has Mostar flights on sale...
Delete@XYZ good observation, it seems DUS is gone and even less likely for EW to start BER. I hope Easyjet will jump on Berlin.
DeleteLJU finally waking up from the dead. Could the 2nd route be from easyJet (as teased before), or something else?
ReplyDeleteI'm starting to doubt Air Albania will launch flights. The airline is on the verge of banruptcy.
ReplyDeleteEdi Rama: They will launch Air Kosova in Kukes and base in Vlora!
DeleteYou are not right 😄
And the flights are suppsed to start in a month... I highly doubt it too.
DeleteShould've get Wizz for TIA.
DeleteAir Albania are scammers. I don't get that the ministry does not do any screening of these airlines before they give them money.
DeleteDo they even fly anywhere? How many planes do they have now?
DeleteOn LJU airport website Tirana is scheduled from 1.9 onwards, one weekly flight at 6am...terrible
DeleteIt will happen. They've been on the verge of bankruptcy since they got launched. And they always schedule flights less than a month before they actually start
Delete26 airlines is pretty good for an airport this size. I’m doubting Air Albania too.
ReplyDelete+1
Delete26 airline and traffic is still way below pre pandemic levels. Why? Because frequnecies are low except on Lufthansa group airlines.
Delete2019 numbers were full of transfers. And at loss making ticket prices!
DeleteBasically Adria and the state were subsidizing the trips of non Slovenians.
This is the talking points Fraport Slovenia gave its employees to defend their poor results.
Delete@10:31 so LJU and Adria should only be used by Slovenes? So why are you flying with other airlines?
DeleteAll airlines should close if they can not be profitable. Selling cheap connecting flights was the reason JP closed.
DeleteThank God for that!
Whatever makes you and Fraport feel better.
DeleteI'm feeling great that I do not have to pay even 1 Euro for JP and its employees. Hope your day gets better.
DeleteI hope you are happy subsidizing airlines because you and Fraport are incompetent.
DeleteHappy for Mutti. Next level is to stop subsidies for national railway service and pay DB to enter Slovenian market.
DeleteCongratulations Ljubljana.
ReplyDeleteAll this progress shows what can be done even without a national carrier.
ReplyDeleteOr an LCC base haha.
DeleteNothing funny about that - it’s not cool LJU doesn’t have FR. It’s not success.
DeleteThere is progress for sure, but FRAPORT is the best in PR, while they are still underperforming in the core business. Ms Stapel is using the only indicator which is in their favor while in all other areas (frequencies, schedule, overall connectivity, passenger number compared to competition) they are not successful at all.
Delete@9:11 shhh, how dare you say that! You are a conspiracy theorist!
DeleteAdria's bankruptcy was a blessing in disguise.
DeleteBlessing in having the worst air connectivity. Bravo!
Delete@9.38 are you for real?
DeleteSo according to you Germans, French, Dutch, Serbs and many more are paying for you to use their airlines for your travels?
Delete@10:29
DeleteOnly if they are selling loss making connections like JP did.
The Fraport employee has entered the chat.
DeleteConcerned traveler still upset that Slovenia is no longer subsidizing his trips. Not to worry, JU is still around!
DeleteMaybe is ITA Airways?
ReplyDeleteOr small airline like israir, Nesma.
DeleteIsrair already flies to LJU.
DeleteNot for too long by the looks of things.
DeleteWill we have again charters to Zanzibar next winter?
ReplyDeleteThere were only 2 chartes one year several years ago. With Flydubai around, I highly doubt it.
DeleteDidn't Adria used to fly to the Seychelles once upon a time? Scheduled flights.
DeleteThe Zanzibar flights were in 2021 during Covid when it was easier to have a charter than transfer. Remember that LJU barely had any airlines flying during Covid.
Delete@931 yes, via Athens and Djibouti. They even set a record for the longest A320 flight at the time by operating some nonstop Athens-Seychelles flights.
DeleteWhen could these two new routes be confirmed?
ReplyDeleteVueling should be soon.
Delete^ Hope so, BCN would be a fantastic addition.
DeleteBCN should have been a destination served from Ljubljana years and years ago.
DeleteFlights are online, but i think it's not final yet because it shows the flights being sold for 4€ in February :D
DeleteThey aren't selling tickets from 20.2 to 5.3...when there are public vacation in Slovenia this hopefully isn't final
DeleteNo way this is final. Price for most flights in ther calendar is 13€, but when you click on them price increases by 2x or 3x.
Delete@admin Any information about the flights? Is the published schedule final?
DeleteThey now removed March flights
DeleteThey are just adding the flights now. It's definitely not final. Schedule and operating days match the ones published on here a few days ago.
DeleteLooks like it's final...
DeleteIf this schedule is final then this route is doomed to fail.
DeleteI hope they add the rest because this is just strange tbh
DeleteThey uploaded November flights now too, an odd gap in February and March remains
DeleteI got tickets for march
Delete30€ one way, fantastic!
DeleteThere is gap from 26th of February till the 12th of March ... Doesn't make any sense as school holidays for half of Slovenia are from 23rd of February till 1st of March... Also going from 3x weekly to a three week gap is odd
DeleteGood progress, but LJU is still far behind 2019 results.
ReplyDeleteAmazing growth
ReplyDeleteStill 20% below 2019. Don't want to even look compared to 2018.
Delete2019 numbers were full of transfers. And at loss making ticket prices!
DeleteBasically Adria and the state were subsidizing the trips of non Slovenians.
Sure. Whatever makes you and your employer feel better.
Delete@10:27
DeleteYou should ask your employer to pay you better instead of looking for cheap tickets on state funded carriers!
This is 2025!
It is 2025 and we are paying Air Albania for a one weekly flight to Tirana and air baltic for a one weekly flight to Las Palmas.
DeleteWithout the subsidied u will only have FRA, MUC, ZRH, CDG, IST and BEG.
Delete@10:48 now we are just making up things?
DeleteNoone is paying nothing for LPA
DeleteLooking at the pic, I'm rally wondering if Finnair will ever go year-round to Ljubljana?
ReplyDeleteAnd they have been flying to LJU for 20 years!
DeleteBravo Fraport!
ReplyDeleteOn what? They are still not even close to prepandemic passenger numbers.
DeletePrepandemic JP was around selling loss making connections.
DeleteAnd now we pay other airlines to fly to LJU.
DeleteHow much do we pay now vs how much we paid for JP?
DeleteMaybe some Greek island if the start of 2nd route will be in in summer 26?
ReplyDeleteRyanair could operate many leisure destinations such as Greece, Italy, Malta, Spain, Portugal... but they hate LJU/Fraport and are part of big conspiracy theory.
DeleteYes sure, they hate LJU/Fraport.
DeleteI think Fraport should understand that no one flies from LJU to greek islands via MUC or FRA and should use the common sense to give up on this ideas. We all use zag ,trs, vie, vce ...
DeleteYou expect too much from Fraport. Listen to its expert Krasnja.
DeleteStill the worst performing capital city airport in Europe no matter how Fraport spins it.
ReplyDeleteYes but they’re making steps
DeleteInteresting how "concerned taxpayers" and Fraport fanboys are angry about foreigners using Adria for "cheap transfers" and at the same time complaining how Adria was to expensive for them.
ReplyDeleteWhat don't you get? Slovenian people flying direct from Ljubljana to Zurich were paying more for their flight than non-Slovenian people who flew from Tirana to Zurich via Ljubljana.
DeleteBlackpool via Maribor.
ReplyDeleteImate podatek kakšen je LF na letih Düsseldorf?
ReplyDelete
