Responding to increased demand for travel between Serbia and Montenegro, the Serbian national carrier has increased its capacity between the two countries by introducing additional flights and upgrading aircraft on services to Tivat and Podgorica. Between January 17 and January 30, Air Serbia has added three extra flights to Tivat and upgraded its turboprop ATR operations to the Airbus A319, while two planned A319 flights have been upgraded to the higher-capacity A320. Capacity has also been increased to Podgorica on January 17. 19 and 24. It comes following the collapse of Montenegro Airlines late last year and the lifting of compulsory PCR testing requirements for entry between Serbia and Montenegro. “We remain committed to the Montenegrin market and we will continue monitoring the situation, adapting the volume of traffic to changes in demand. Our goal is to maintain a continuous and strong air connection between cities in the region in order to enable all passengers to easily travel to their desired destinations”, Jiri Marek, Air Serbia’s General Manager for Commercial and Strategy, said. The carrier added, “Immediately following the shutdown of Montenegro Airlines, Air Serbia increased capacity between the two countries and deployed additional resources at airports in Podgorica, Tivat and Belgrade, in order to serve all our passengers under the given circumstances”.
