NEWS FLASH
Finnair has delayed the resumption of its flights between Helsinki and Ljubljana by several months. The carrier now plans to restore its seasonal operations between the two cities from September 1. Initially the airline was to return to the Slovenian capital in late March, then July but has now pushed back its service resumption to September. Finnair did not maintain flights on the route last year due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2019 it handled 32.939 passengers between the two cities.
Ouch!
ReplyDeleteNot a surprise anyway because Finland has a very strict criteria to consider a country "safe to travel to".
No way Slovenia can get soon to these "low numbers" to be considered yellow-green or whatever.
I would add that probably no Finnair flying to Ljubljana during this summer schedule at all.
ReplyDeleteIt would be interesting to see what reason Fraport will use to explain why every airline is bypassing Ljubljana airport.
ReplyDeletehmmm all the airlines are delaying returns to LJU while Lufthansa had to fly with A320 today instead of CRJ9 because it was too small. Maybe people don't want to fly with other airlines 😂
DeleteI think it has less or almost nothing to do with both Slovenia and Finland. Majority of the passengers on this service are from the Far East. So far, Far East, with partial exemption of China, remains closed. That's why the service is delayed.
ReplyDeleteYes you're right. This route was mainly filled with the tour groups from Japan, Hong Kong, Thailand, South Korea etc. No chance those markets are coming back to the region this year.
