Turkish Airlines to boost Montenegro operations

NEWS FLASH

Turkish Airlines will increase flights from Istanbul to both Podgorica and Tivat after signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Air Montenegro at the Eastern Mediterranean International Tourism and Travel Fair (EMITT) in Istanbul. The purpose of the signed agreement is to enable Turkish Airlines and Air Montenegro to achieve common goals in the provision of air transport services between the two countries, through strengthening mutual commercial cooperation. As a result, Turkish Airlines will grow frequencies between Istanbul and Tivat from three to five weekly flights starting June 2, while an additional rotation will be added on services to Podgorica for a total of twelve weekly flights from June 5. The new agreement will also enable Air Montenegro to grow its frequencies to Turkey.

MNE aviation is growing conservatively which is quite good actually. This is how it is done. This Russian loss will soon be compensated somehow with other airlines and other options. Well, at least until the war is still ongoing. Once the sanctions are lifted, things might change quite a lot.

Actually, the growth should be much more intense with a strong support from Montenegrin government, and I am not talking about financial help.

Montenegro as a country need to start branding itself as a tourist destination in Western Europe. Government should be proactive by signing Air service agreements with other countries. Government should be dealing with Montenegro Airlines and the question about the usage of YM IATA code, which would bring MNE much closer to Amadeus PSS and GDS distribution in more utilized way they are present now (if Amadeus chance is still present due to the fact such a long time this was shoveled under the carpet and issue not attended by the government).

The loss of such a big market like the Russian can not be replaced .
Vietnam is trying to do it but failed .
A single Russian tourist in Vietnam spent nearly double as much as a Chinese one and even more than twice as much as a Japanese .

That is why you can see Air Montenegro was focusing on Central, Western European and Baltic market, as well as Israel and Armenia.

Don't forget they did a good job signing deals with Egypt tour operator. Saudi Arabia was almost signed, but flynas decided to take that deal and fly to Montenegro.
