NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines operated its first scheduled international flight with its new 149-seat Airbus A220-300 aircraft between Zagreb and Frankfurt this Wednesday August 7, celebrating its 35th anniversary in the process. The carrier was established as Zagal Zagreb Airlines on August 7, 1989. It changed its name a year later, on July 23, 1990 and operated its first service under its new brand between Zagreb and Split on May 5, 1991. Its first international flight, between the Croatian capital and Frankfurt, came on April 5, 1992. Since then, the airline has operated a total of 709.000 flights and carried 45.8 million passengers. “This year we are celebrating 35 years since our foundation and twenty years of membership in Star Alliance. A particularly important event for us is the acquisition of new aircraft - it is the largest project in the history of Croatia Airlines. It is a year to remember, and the entire aviation industry is returning to positive waters after the crisis caused by the pandemic”, the carrier’s CEO, Jasmin Bajić, said.

The only ones who aren't happy are the jet fuel suppliers given how much less thirsty this new bird is!

I was on this flight last Wednesday, route FRA - SPU. Nice aircraft, quiet, comfortable seats, leg room really good. First time in a A220 and absolutely surprised.

Nice airplane. Hope they use it on their longer routes and open new markets based on the economics of the plane.
