All EX-YU capital airports set for October growth, Wizz largest carrier

All capital city airports in the former Yugoslavia will see their capacity levels grow in October, with Wizz Air to become the region’s largest carrier.

Belgrade Airport has the most available seats on scheduled flights in October, standing at 973.961. The figure represents an increase of 10% on 2024. Air Serbia will continue to maintain its position as the largest carrier, holding 49% of all available scheduled capacity. A resurgent Wizz Air will grow its seat count by 32%, with a total share of 21.1%. Zagreb follows as the second largest with 592.147 available seats on scheduled flights during the month. It represents an increase of 14.6% on the previous year. Croatia Airlines will be its largest carrier with 36.9% of total capacity followed by Ryanair with 33.3%. The flag carrier will grow its capacity 22.8% year-over-year on the back of introducing five new routes in July, while Ryanair will increase its number of seats by 19.1%.

Pristina Airport will have 415.616 available seats, with capacity growth currently projected at 3.6%. GP Aviation has the largest volume of seats, holding a 30.9% share. It is followed by Wizz Air with 14.3% of total capacity. Skopje Airport will boast 343.159 seats in October, up 13.6%. Wizz Air will see its first notable capacity growth at the airport in over a year, up 10.2% on the same month in 2024. It will hold the largest share at 52.5%. It is followed by Pegasus Airlines with a 12.2% share and growth of 17.6% compared to last year. Sarajevo will continue its strong growth with 229.660 scheduled seats on the market in October, representing an increase of 17.5% on 2024. Ryanair, which is growing its capacity by 158.5% year-on-year, is the largest carrier with 19% of seats, followed by Pegasus Airlines with 14.8% and 12.2% growth.

Podgorica Airport has 193.948 seats on scheduled flights in October. Air Montenegro is the largest carrier with 20.9% of total capacity, followed by Wizz Air with a 16.8% share. Finally, Ljubljana has a total of 177.931 seats on scheduled services, up 18.9% on October 2024, with most carriers growing their capacity on last year. Lufthansa and Turkish Airlines will be the airport’s largest, both holding 15.4% of all seats. The Turkish carrier will add the most capacity at the airport in October when compared to last year, growing by 8.386 seats, followed by new entrant KLM.

      Ryanair is puling three aircraft from its VIE base citing an increase in airport fees as the reason.

      ^ It is very simple. They do are not interested in current incentives and want a much bigger discount. BEG is not interested in giving it to them. Ryanair will get their terms only if it is a last resort like it was at Zagreb and Dubrovnik when they realised they would not surpass prepandemic passenger numbers for years.

      90 euros return BEG LIS is not a sustainable price, just for filling seats or squeezing out W6 from the route.
      Yield management is complex and the only datum that is interesting is the average yearly yield on a route.... But this a more kept secret that the Coca-Cola receipe.

      With Wizz Air gone, cheapest return flight to LIS will be €200.
      Please be mindful of the fact that this is the lowest fare. On average you will pay between €300 and €450 luggage excluded. Without Wizz Air, Lisbon will become unaffordable for many.

    Belgrade leading the pack doesn’t surprise me, but Sarajevo’s 17.5% growth is impressive! Ryanair’s massive jump there shows they’re betting big on Bosnia.

    Air Serbia falling under 50% at BEG in a relatively slower month such as Octber should be a major cause of concern. With 38 planes, including 4 wide bodies, they are just more than two times bigger than Wizz with 4 planes

      Basicly they are not going up or down , they still keep between 100 and 200k passengers , if we take in hand that last years they barely handle 200k in a single month , so for them this is impressive, even other airports like ZAG,PRN or SKP handling more then 300k in a single month in winter SJJ is still far away for that numbers because it is summer airport in winter is like TGD and LJU

      SJJ never reached the planned scheduled figures. And from 300k passengers in August they are going down to 200k probably will be less around 180-190k
