All capital city airports in the former Yugoslavia will see their capacity levels grow in October, with Wizz Air to become the region’s largest carrier.
Belgrade Airport has the most available seats on scheduled flights in October, standing at 973.961. The figure represents an increase of 10% on 2024. Air Serbia will continue to maintain its position as the largest carrier, holding 49% of all available scheduled capacity. A resurgent Wizz Air will grow its seat count by 32%, with a total share of 21.1%. Zagreb follows as the second largest with 592.147 available seats on scheduled flights during the month. It represents an increase of 14.6% on the previous year. Croatia Airlines will be its largest carrier with 36.9% of total capacity followed by Ryanair with 33.3%. The flag carrier will grow its capacity 22.8% year-over-year on the back of introducing five new routes in July, while Ryanair will increase its number of seats by 19.1%.
Pristina Airport will have 415.616 available seats, with capacity growth currently projected at 3.6%. GP Aviation has the largest volume of seats, holding a 30.9% share. Wizz Air will see its first notable capacity growth at the airport in over a year, up 10.2% on the same month in 2024. It will hold the largest share at 52.5%. It is followed by Pegasus Airlines with a 12.2% share and growth of 17.6% compared to last year. Sarajevo will continue its strong growth with 229.660 scheduled seats on the market in October, representing an increase of 17.5% on 2024. wow well done Sarajevo!
ReplyDeleteRyanair has done wonders for Sarajevo Airport.
DeleteMore legacies are needed though.
DeleteNo. More LCCs are needed. We all remember how expensive it was to fly from SJJ before LCCs arrived.
DeleteWe need both
DeleteI don't think there is room for both to grow in the future. If I had to chose then I would take LCCs any day of the week.
DeleteWe need Ryanair to come to Belgrade!
DeleteThey are too stubborn.
DeleteRyanair’s impact in Sarajevo is huge.
DeleteRyanair is puling three aircraft from its VIE base citing an increase in airport fees as the reason.
DeleteHopefully they base these aircraft in our region.
Fingers crossed for BEG but I don't believe they are very welcome here.
Delete^ It is very simple. They do are not interested in current incentives and want a much bigger discount. BEG is not interested in giving it to them. Ryanair will get their terms only if it is a last resort like it was at Zagreb and Dubrovnik when they realised they would not surpass prepandemic passenger numbers for years.
DeleteBravo Air Serbia 🇷🇸🇷🇸🇷🇸
ReplyDeleteI'm curious to see how ZAG will perform since most growth came from useless OU. They put the seats on the market but will they fill them with passengers?
ReplyDeleteJudging by their low loads, not really.
DeleteLet's see if they start cutting some capacity especially in markets like SJJ where their LF is just 44%
DeleteWhere did you get the idea that Ryanair's load factor in Sarajevo is 44%?
DeleteWhat on earth are you talking about Anon09.23!?
DeleteWe are talking about OU in SJJ. Read more carefully!!!
Sorry my mistake. First thread of comments mixed up with this one.
DeleteThank you Wizz Air for growing in Belgrade and for making air travel affordable.
ReplyDeleteTravelled with Air Serbia to Lisbon for 90 euros return in April.
DeleteThat was probably a sale and the ticket was bought months in advance. BEG-LIS is rarely under €250 without luggage.
DeleteMaybe because of so low prices W6 will stop flying to LIS.
DeleteThey are cutting because of the slots which they need for bigger markets. If BEG was not lucrative for them they wouldn't be growing at 30% in October
Delete90 euros return BEG LIS is not a sustainable price, just for filling seats or squeezing out W6 from the route.
DeleteYield management is complex and the only datum that is interesting is the average yearly yield on a route.... But this a more kept secret that the Coca-Cola receipe.
Well, they successfully squeezed out Wizz.
DeleteWizz Air is the reason JU is not scalping us alive on the destinations served by both.
DeleteTrue dat.
DeleteWith Wizz Air gone, cheapest return flight to LIS will be €200.
DeletePlease be mindful of the fact that this is the lowest fare. On average you will pay between €300 and €450 luggage excluded. Without Wizz Air, Lisbon will become unaffordable for many.
It is an almost 4 hour flight. I don't understand people thinking airlines are supposed to be charities.
DeleteNot a lot of difference between first three airlines.
ReplyDeleteIndeed. Very close
DeleteMy prediction at the end of the year it will be:
ReplyDeleteBEG
PRN
ZAG
SPU
Seeing PRN oct growth, I do not think that is possible.
DeleteThat's without the charters which are many.
Delete+ flights to saudi
DeleteFlights to Saudi are scheduled and they are included in the numbers. Charters are not that plentiful with GP Aviation included in the numbers.
DeleteLove it when LJU does well. Things are finally looking bright for sLOVEnia
ReplyDeleteExcellent growth for LJU!
DeleteBravo Fraport!
DeleteThe difference between LJU and all airports mentioned above is that LJU is still below 2019. Really bravo.
DeleteAs you well know back in 2019 LJU had JP flying cheap connections that inflated its traffic stats.
DeleteNow all the traffic is O&D.
Even without connections LJU have less passengers than 2019 and the gap is even deeper compared to 2018. So - yes, nice growth, but still lagging heavily behind competition.
DeleteIf you can't replace those 150.000 transfers in more than 6 years you are just incompetent.
DeleteThey could have been replaced if conditions were offered for an LCC to expand.
DeleteLJU might be having less passengers now but at least what we have today is sustainable. There is a reason why JP went bust.
DeleteThose missing passengers are Albanian transfers who flew to Western Europe for peanuts.
So 20% of LJU passengers in 2019 were Albanian transfers? Do you even read what you write?
DeleteOn JP yes. They used to make a killing in PRN and TIA. Do you even read what others are writing?!
Delete"Killing" with LF less than 60%? Aren't you the one that complains how those routes were loss making?
DeleteWell, anyway, it is obvious that Adria's business model was not sustainable.
DeleteBravo Hrvatska!
ReplyDeleteWizz Air is back on top of the region again.
ReplyDeleteAs it should be.
DeleteBut next year I think FR will be on top.
^ they will need to launch new routes.
DeleteWizz air will be on the top this year and next also ........!!!!!
DeleteBelgrade leading the pack doesn’t surprise me, but Sarajevo’s 17.5% growth is impressive! Ryanair’s massive jump there shows they’re betting big on Bosnia.
ReplyDeleteThey will for sure open the Sarajevo base next year, SJJ is doing a great job!
DeleteOnly if they remove that tax,
DeletePRN and SKP still holding 300k + in octomber , SJJ is going down to 200 likely to finish month with 180k , it is so impressive :D
Delete^ I understand you are from Macedonia but I really don't understand your issue with Sarajevo. On every comment relating to Sarajevo here you are to belittle it.
DeleteAdmin is there info as to what is the percentage growth for available seats for TGD and LJU compared with 2024?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for any info.
"Ljubljana has a total of 177.931 seats on scheduled services, up 18.9% on October 2024,"
DeletePhenomenal performance by LJU!
DeleteAnd TGD as well
DeleteAir Serbia falling under 50% at BEG in a relatively slower month such as Octber should be a major cause of concern. With 38 planes, including 4 wide bodies, they are just more than two times bigger than Wizz with 4 planes
ReplyDeleteIf it is under 50% it is "major cause of concern", if it above 50% it is "monopolistic position".
Delete^ exactly. Can never please people around here.
DeleteJU's long haul schedule for half the year at least can be executed with just one and a half A330s.
Delete^ you have been repeating the same thing as a parrot almost daily here and you have already been proven that it's not possible.
DeleteHe is right actually. JU winter schedule for JFK, ORD, PVG and CAN can be flown by less than two aircraft. But not one.
DeleteIt is not monopolistic if JU has over 50% at its only hub. Its called successful
DeleteNot according to some people here. They need to be angry at something.
Delete@10.23
DeleteNo he is not. He is not taking into account JU's scheduling on these routes and he most certainly isn't taking into account aircraft going for maintenance. Also, I don't know how you don't get tired repeating the same thing over and over.
He is factually right. The number of weekly frequencies during the winter half can be done with less than 2 aircraft.
DeleteNo, they can't with JU's schedule. Maybe in your world where slots, connecting onto waves etc don't matter.
Delete^ You are clutching at straws now.
DeleteNot clutching at anything. Made by position Xmas from the beginning. But it didn't suit you.
DeleteAnd today JU fanboys and fangirls got a cold shower... a nice dose of reality check. Air Serbia downgraded Lyon. So much for JU's successful management which can't make such a rich region successful the whole year with the Embraer.
DeleteReality check of what? That one route out of over 80 will not run for a few months? The only person that needs a reality check is you.
DeleteUh, oh, what about Split, Bari, Naples going year around? That is reality boom, with boiling water shower. For you
DeleteGood month coming up
ReplyDeleteNovember and December would be even better for SKP especially with the new additions🥳
DeleteWith this sort of capacity growth, is it realistic BEG will reach 9 million this year?
ReplyDeleteHow about we wait and see the results in the end?
DeleteProbably not this year but next year for sure. Unless some unforeseen global event happens.
DeleteOr domestic the way things are going politically.
10.04 obviously I will wait. I was just asking what people think.
DeleteSarajevo may have 200k pessengers in October, that would be amazing for SJJ!! Good job!
ReplyDeleteExcellent job
DeleteYes Sarajevo is doing really well for a long time now!
Delete185k more likely
DeleteThey never reach the plannerd scheduled capacity , only in August they come little close but never reach it. And winter they will drop to less then 200k in a single month
DeleteSarajevo instead going up they are going down , clearly shows their potentinal is only for summer ... winter months they will drop under 200k which will be same as Podgorica and Ljubljana
DeleteSarajevo is going down? Are you out of your mind?
DeleteBasicly they are not going up or down , they still keep between 100 and 200k passengers , if we take in hand that last years they barely handle 200k in a single month , so for them this is impressive, even other airports like ZAG,PRN or SKP handling more then 300k in a single month in winter SJJ is still far away for that numbers because it is summer airport in winter is like TGD and LJU
DeleteNice to see every single airport in the region showing positive year-on-year growth.
ReplyDeleteEspecially SKP growth of 300k + is huge ....
DeleteWizz Air and Ryanair driving competition
ReplyDeleteHey Admin, do PRN number include other ACMIs which are flying there or only GP registers their capacity?
ReplyDeleteMajority of ACMIs are now included.
DeleteThank you Admin!
DeleteSarajevo’s growth is still double digits!
ReplyDeleteImpressive!
DeleteI for one am impressed.
DeleteSJJ never reached the planned scheduled figures. And from 300k passengers in August they are going down to 200k probably will be less around 180-190k
DeleteSkopje for the first time is hitting 300k+ in Octomber (not a summer month) , this is amazing!!! Well done!!!
ReplyDeleteSo GP is just the national Airline of Kosovo now ;)
ReplyDeletePretty much
DeleteHappy to see SKP is back growing 13%, and that in winter, not all airports growing in winter period.. the best years are yet to come for SKP!!!!👍👏✅️
ReplyDelete+1
DeleteWOW. Wizz Air with 4 based aircraft and Wizz Air UK daily visitor holds 21% (1/5) of the avail seats in Belgrade. Talking about aircraft utilization low cost vs legacy...
Delete
