NEWS FLASH

Passengers flying out of Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport will no longer have to take out their laptops, tablets, liquids, aerosols and gels from their carry-on bags due to the implementation of new screening technology. The airport recently opened its new centralised security screening checkpoint and purchased 3D scanning technology which provide a rotating high-resolution view deep inside cabin bags instead of the flat two-dimensional imaging of conventional scanners. Furthermore, in addition to metal detectors, the airport has started utilising full-body scanners on passengers, which detect objects on or inside a person's body, without requiring travellers to physically remove their clothing or accessories such as belts. As a result, the airport has improved the speed at which passengers proceed through security while enhancing overall safety procedures.

Used BEG last week and this was such a welcome surprise. So much easier and quicker. Plus the trays line up automatically for 6 or so people at once. Really good and quick.

One of the rudest and most unfriendly screening staff that I witnessed work at BEG

Oh and the screening staff elsewhere is usually waiting for you with coffee and sweets.

Their job is not to be cute and friendly. Try TSA checks in the US and you will understand all the memes about them.

You must understand that you have come to the border crossing where security is provided and that the staff is not paid to serve you drinks and food but only to ensure the safe travel of all.

I flew BG - Lyon two weeks ago. It was return flight with transfer. In BG it was realy streamless experience. On the other side (return from Lyon) it was horible. Endless stream of passegers in line, and they were opening laptop and investigating every detail in hand baggage.

That's really great news. The only thing I don't like is the design of this security area (or the lack thereof). It looks really ugly. I'm afraid in the end the whole airport will become quite functional but with zero warmth. And this can be solved with just a little bit of extra investment.

Seems temporary, once new terminal extension is complete pictures show security screening will be in the new area.

Of course this is temporary, the screening will be moved to the newly built ground-floor area and this part of the airport will then undergo reconstruction.

You have on the last image in the background what the area will look like. That's where the new building under construction will be connected.
