NEWS FLASH

The Slovenian Minister for Foreign and European Affairs, Tanja Fajon, has met with her Finnish counterpart, Elina Valtonen, in Helsinki where the two discussed a number of topics including improving connectivity between the two countries. Ms Fajon noted that more needs to be done in promoting tourism exchange between the two states and expressed her wish for Finnair’s seasonal service between Helsinki and Ljubljana to be extended to year-round operations. Finnair launched services to Ljubljana in 2006 and has served the city on a seasonal basis ever since, with a three-year hiatus during the coronavirus pandemic. It handled 27.107 passengers on the route in 2024, with an average cabin load factor of 73.7% for the duration of the summer. The Oneworld member is due to resume operations to the Slovenian capital on April 3, with services to be maintained until October 25. As previously reported, it will decrease frequencies from last year’s four weekly to three weekly rotations this coming summer.

They should apply for subsidies for 2 weekly flights on E190, if this doesn't work, nothing will

Finnair is hurting from the Russia airspace ban, Slovenians mostly used the line for Asian connections that are now pracitally useless, most of us started using TK for those.

P2P traffic would maybe support weekly flight on their smallest jet, but that's about it

Asian connections were used much much more by Asian than by Slovenian passengers. Finnair is not (again) in LJU for Slovenians but for Chinese, Japanese, Korean... Of course some Slovenians use the service too but reading your post one could conclude that Slovenians were main reason why AY came to LJU. Well, sorry, but it's not the case

I've been seeing Klagenfurt airports ads for summer schedule since December xD, yet Ljubljana with 10 fold the budget isn't doing anything...and then they are asking themselves why there is no pax

Notice how it's always TAV CEO in talks for Macedonia yet never Lufthansa CEO in talks for Slovenia

Btw, if you go on their website and click the "Imaš poln kufer? V letu 2025 poleti z njim na eno od naših destinacij." banner, the 2024 blog for summer season comes up; and then the timetable link redirects you to the 2025 winter schedule. What a shitshow
