NEWS FLASH

The Macedonian Minister for Transport and Communications, Aleksandar Nikoloski, has held talks with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prague Airport, Jiri Pos. During the meeting, Mr Nikoloski outlined the existing state subsidies on offer to airlines for the launch of new routes. The two sides discussed the potential introduction of flights between Skopje and Prague, as well as the launch of seasonal services between Ohrid and Karlovy Vary in western Czech Republic. The talks come a month after the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, travelled to Czech capital to partake in a workshop at Prague Airport on the tourist potential of Macedonia, which was also attended by Mr Pos, and hold talks with the country's aviation stakeholders.

19:03 Flydubai is postponing the launch of a direct service from North Macedonia's Skopje to Dubai, local media reported on Friday. The air carrier notified North Macedonia's transport ministry that it will delay the launch of flights to Skopje due to "objective reasons beyond the airline's control", news provider Sakam Da Kazham reported, citing a statement from the transport ministry.

The ministry did not specify when the airline will start operating the new service.

“ The talks come a month after the General Manager of airport operator TAV Macedonia, Nejat Kurt, travelled to Czech capital to partake in a workshop at Prague Airport on the tourist potential of Macedonia, which was also attended by Mr Pos, and hold talks with the country's aviation stakeholders.”

Wow, GM of airport operator attended a travel/tourism industry workshop to promote THE COUNTRY where they operate.

We asked The region’s best airport operator GM if she has ever done anything similar.

“We find the question malicious and in bad faith, so we will not comment on whether our GM has ever promoted Slovenia or worked to improve air connectivity.

We’d just like to highlight that our GM regularly follows all relevant platforms for charter hub operators. Also, let’s not forget—airport operators only provide infrastructure, its air operators’ DECISION if they launch flights to LJU or how much they fly to LJU.

Fraport added that they are proudly developing a charter hub.”

    #sarcasm ;)

Tel Aviv would be a great addition, especially for incoming tourism as Israelis know and like this area. It would also be nice to have a direct option for our tour operators going to TLV, Jerusalem, the Dead Sea and the holy sites instead of having to travel to Sofia (where most Macedonians fly to Israel from). Just check Sofia airport where you have El Al, Bulgaria Air, Israir, Arkia, Ryanair and Wizzair all flying to Tel Aviv.
Ohrid used to have some charters from Tel Aviv and I remember times when Tel Aviv had tons of posters advertising Macedonia paid by their tour operator/airline Israir. I flew Tel Aviv - Ohrid and remember it was full. Recently, every time I fly SOF-TLV there are Macedonians onboard. :)

SKP and SJJ desperately need Prague in their destination list, the demand is huge, LCCs have been considering it.
