NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines has confirmed it will retire one Airbus A320 aircraft this year as part of its transition to a single-type A220 fleet. The carrier did not specify which of the two A320s in its fleet will be removed from operation this year, with both over twenty years old. The jet registered 9A-CTK, nicknamed “Split” is 25 years old, while 9A-CTO, nicknamed “Dubrovnik”, is just over 21 years old. Earlier this year the carrier retired two of its six Dash 8 Q400 aircraft. They were initially flown to Canada to undergo inspections, having reached 40.000 flight cycles. They were then returned to Zagreb where they are now undergoing final maintenance work at Croatia Airlines’ hangars after which they will be repainted at a facility in Bratislava before being returned to their owner.

CTO has a fantastic interior though.

The interior might look good, but it's one of the most uncomfortable planes I have ever flown. Last year, due to a delay, KLM rebooked us with OU on our AMS-ZAG leg. We were like the 4th row from the back. The seats were so thin and the leg room was the worst i have ever seen. Even Vueling was better. The plane was packed to the last seat. I had the window seat and I had to sit pretty much diagonally throughout the flight in order not to have my knees protrude thorough the front seat. Very uncomfortable and I do not think I would ever fly with OU again. I truly hope A220s have better legroom.

With CTO you have to do whatever you can to sit in the front. The legroom in the back is awful but the front half of Economy has extra legroom throughout. I think it used to be Economy Comfort with TAP or something similar.

Obviously that is not possible with a last-minute rebooking.

Bad news - the A220 legroom is not great.

@Anon 14:21 You should try Get jet A320's. To see the level of uncomfortability

Presumably CTK which is owned, i believe CTO is on a power by the hour contract?
CTO does have a decent interior from when it was still operated by TAP, especially the front bit of the plane.

CTK is not owned. No aircraft is owned by OU.

Correct. A320 fleet was owned before. They sold and leased back entire fleet. So they now own ZERO aircraft, and pay lease for A319/329, A220, and Q400. Result : 20 million loss during Q1. Imagine when more Intergalactic Spaceships join, with LF drastically dropping taking over Q400 services. My estimation: 40 mil loss for 2025. Minimum, maybe more. And tax payers not even producing beeeeee, but completely silent
