@10.53, yes, definitely. In the past few weeks I think three flights (one leg of them) were sold out or had only a few seats remaining. The route is definitely gonna stick, hopefully it proves sustainable in the winter as well in the long term.

Just checked one way prices for LJU-MAN tickets in August and almost all are over 250punds (300€), so the flights are surely very full...I think even EDI would work as 2x weekly in winter because a lot of Slovenian students do study there

I am gonna said again, SKP needs CDG not ORY, they should giwe subsidies to flag carrier that will open strategic connection point to the world not to company that fly to ORY without any connection option.Demand for p2p people from Macedonia to France is not that strong, and all that passengers are using wizz air option. Anon 16:41, I totally agree with you but I think that if subsidies were interesting enough then AF would already have applied. I keep saying that a national carrier (let’s call it Air Macedonia) will be the best solution, they could fly to AMS, CDG, BRU, LHR, CPH, MUC, DUS, LUX, HAJ and so on…

And what makes you believe that a Macedonian national carrier would be able to secure slots at Heathrow or Amsterdam and actually turn a profit on such a route? Sorry to break it to you but Skopje is firmly LCC territory. Any attempt to create such an airline would be a sad waste of money the country cannot afford.

Those subsidies programs are otfen more welcomed for low cost carriers not flag carriers, there are case but not alot. So honestly I do not expect AF will accept subsidies to lauch SKP-CDG at any point soon... here we comes to question why we dont have national carrier that at least will provide ys those Europe hubs... even with loss and no profit OU recieving money from the government so no any issue with that :)))

Yes true but looking forward lets count how much money our government payed to Wizz air in this 15 years , than we will realise that in the end of the day better that money be redirected to national carrier than someone from outside recieving them. That is long process and will take time , and low cost carriers will still have the option to fly from Macedonia, as now they dont giwe us main hubs only few, most are second airports....

There are not flights to many major hubs for a reason. In the wider contrxt the market is tiny and not particuarly wealthy. Who on earth is going to make a Heathrow-Skopje flight profitable? I'm afraid to say nobody. The cost of starting a national carrier to cover 'major hubs' as you put them is vast, and without a wider network of connections just wouldnt stand a chance at all. Its non-starter in the modern aviation climate. The current method works well and has give Skopje the greatest aviation connectivity in its history.
