Boško Matković to be named new CEO
The former head of Zagreb Airport, Boško Matković, is set to take the reigns over from Srećko Šimunović as the new CEO of Croatia Airlines, local media report. Šimunović, who had close ties to the long time CEO Ivan Mišetić, is set to be replaced due to financial losses at the airline and a worsening spat between the management and employees. Srećko Šimunović was named as the head of Croatia’s national carrier in October 2010. Šimunović came to Croatia Airlines in 2002, taking up the post as head of the marketing department. He later became the director of the marketing and networks department and finally moved to the marketing and purchasing department. Before arriving at Croatia Airlines, Šimunović worked for INA, the Croatian National Petroleum Industry.On the other hand, Boško Matković was replaced by the government in 2009 with Tonči Peović. Matković was accused by the media for having a monthly salary of up to 13.000 euros. While it is believed that Matković was replaced due to political reasons, the government at the time maintained that he was removed due to bad management. However, Matković was liked by his employees and had good relations with unions, which might come in handy as there is growing discontent amongst Croatia Airlines’ employees. On the other hand, Matković also presided over the failed attempt to construct a new terminal building at Zagreb Airport.

When Matkovic came to Zagreb airport debts were 40.000.000,00 EUR. After 8 years he paid all debts, made profit of 5.000.000,00 EUR per year, made financial reserves of some 28.000.000,00 EUR and investments in new terminal and equipment of some 38.000.000,00 EUR.

ReplyDeleteSome time ago, self-proclaimed expert in aviation industry, explained that LDZA employees "loved" Mr. Matkovic when he was CEO of LDZA.
DeleteBy definition, it is something terribly wrong when workers "love" their Manager.
This announcement is a major set back for CA.
Unions (socialist self-management hard workers) have won.
Matkovic is a joke - what has matkovic done? He stopped Wizzair to open a base in ZAG. Yes, while his time, there came a lot of new airlines, but they has gone after one or two seasons!

ReplyDeleteMost of «facts» are not true. Even predictions about future of Matkovic and Zagreb airport were so stupid. History shows that nothing written here never happened, just the opposite. Kalmeta and other «Matkovic partners in criminal» fired him, because he was not one of them, and did not want to dance as they play. He even refuses position of ambassador or CEO of Croatian railways, what was proposal to go «peacefully».
Isn't it contradictory that workers liked and support Matkovic, and in same time he was criminal, and despot who, by this text, was at least on Hitler's level? And the most stupid thing that you can hear from today’s top managers in air traffic is: «if one is good manager, he must be hated among employees. Zagreb airport and Croatia airlines CEOs are hated by employees? And one can see how good managers they are.
Everybody involved in ZAG knows that Matković bought "social peace" with union workers.

Yes there were several advertisements for positions in ZAG.
ReplyDeleteLot of investigations were made in ZAG after Matkovic was fired. They did not find anything. And they try hard, really hard. For months they read every document, investigate, dig... Their main goal was to find something against Matkovic and to make him criminal.
No, this is bullshit that there were some kind of investigations after Matkovic. This is just Boško's stupid propaganda, there were no investigation az ZAG. And the hundreds of millions values and kunas for these and those at ZAG are spread by bloggers who are just Matković'š marionettes. Insiders know that Matković has even taken loans to shift up the balance sheet, so that he can pay out himself a greater bonus. I reapeat again, please don't be naive!
