B&H denies closure claims

B&H Airlines has denied recent claims by the “Dnevni Avaz” newspaper that the Federation government of Bosnia and Herzegovina is planning to shut down the carrier. “Since our accounts were reinstated, B&H Airlines continues to operate flights from Sarajevo Airport normally. We are carrying out flights according to the 2013 timetable and final preparations are underway for flights to Skopje to be launched”, the airline said in a press release.

B&H Airlines is currently operating services to Istanbul, Copenhagen, Zurich and Banja Luka with a single ATR72 which has forced the carrier to reduce its flight offering. However, the airline’s second ATR, which has been undergoing maintenance in Germany for the past few months, is set to return to the fleet on April 22, after which B&H plans to boost frequencies. Officially, the airline still plans to lease a jet engine aircraft, with global reservation systems displaying a Fokker 100 operating flights from Sarajevo to Istanbul starting May 1. While the airline hasn’t included Amsterdam in its summer timetable, it has been granted slots at the Dutch airport for the upcoming summer, indicating a possible return for the carrier to the city.

Earlier this week, the popular daily “Dnevni Avaz” broke the news that the Federation government of Bosnia and Herzegovina has decided to shut down its national carrier. It added that cabinet members are set to vote in favour of the airline’s closure as it can no longer support B&H which has accumulated significant debt for its relatively small size. The government forks out 3.5 million euros for the carrier on an annual basis. The government has blamed Turkish Airlines for leaving B&H last year in a worse state then prior to the acquisition in 2008.

Why is today's headline not about Croatia Airline's summer timetable? Are you anti Croatia or something? The last two Saturdays you showed all of the other ex-yu carriers summer schedule's! You have already told us at least once this week about B&H could be closing down! If you want to be a news portal about EX-YU Aviation, then please treat all airlines equally!

The 482 news items relating to Croatia proves wrong your bizarre claim that the blog is anti-Croatian. The schedule was not published this morning due to technical problems with the blog and will be published within the next few days when these issues are resolved. Try not to jump to conclusions.

OU has informed their customers about the changes in their summer schedule, due to the fact that they have an aircraft less. So check the website.

This is pathetic from the B&H government, but isnt new in the ex-YU region. The ministers from our countries are nothing but pathetic. A new aircraft could be produced for the time this ATR has been in 'maintenance'. Shut the airline down if you dont want to support it, or just finance it to be a profitable airline. It was their problem for selling it to TK, and their problem that TK pulled out from it. JA would be in a better possition if it were a solid airline who made proper connections to other destionations via other hubs such as MUC, VIE, ZAG, BEG, IST etc feeding traffic to other carriers imo. High airfares, high taxes, unreliable scheduling and incomeptance is what is making this airline suffer.

He is simply talking about how the airline has announced they will not be hutting down after false statements that it would be, no big deal. It is new news, why not report it lol.

But I think we all just want B&H to shut down already.

Unofficial statistics for Adria for March 2013:

    2012/2013
    PAX 71120 66816 index 94 (-6%) charters +30%
    hours 2379 2150 index 90 (-10%)
    flights 1660 1458 index 88 (-12%) charters -30%
    pax per flt 42,8 45,8 index (+7%) charters +88%

Adria started flying LJU-AGA-TFS-LJU in FEB13 beside LJU-HRG-SSH_LJU route with A320, that is why charter numbers are as reported. This March Adria operated with one less CRJ2 (ex S5-AAI) than previous March - reason for less flights.
