NEWS FLASH

Croatia Airlines will commence scheduled flights from Zagreb to Mostar on May 3, linking the two cities for the first time following a twelve-year hiatus. As previously reported, the carrier will maintain two weekly flights, departing Zagreb each Thursday and Sunday evening and returning from Mostar on Friday and Monday morning, allowing for passengers to transfer onto a number of Croatia Airlines' European services. The carrier and the Croatian government will hold a press conference in Mostar this Friday at 13.00 after which tickets will be put on sale. The route will be operated on a year-round basis with the 76-seat Dash 8 turboprop aircraft. Further flight details can be found here.

Twice per week is more than enough for the starters, especially considering OU has no spare capacity. Year round service is a great move (long run).

Not necessarily,as OU has choice where to put the aircraft for the 2 spare weekly slots. Just like all other airlines (especially LCCs) act on this "right of choice" when they compare what airport provides better incentive. I am sure thare are many factors that have been counted in...airline has its own risks too. All in all, it's great that the route finally happened.

So, just for your understanding...Twice per week on the exact days as it was PRN. So now you know a big secret why is it only twice a week.

The route won't do well, only Hercegovci travel to Mostar, and I don't see many Croats traveling to Mostar, paying 2000 kuna or more for return ticket.

      2000 Kuna is around €270 or $332.
Average Croatian pay is €835 NET. Not sure how many in Croatia can afford to waste €270 (a third of the monthly pay) on a return ticket to place in middle of nowhere.

Fares have not fully been loaded into the reservation system yet. Secondly, part of the targeted pax are foreigners reaching Medjugorje...in which case you should be looking at the whole ticket value not just the P2P segment. Chill...and be patient :)

Given that they are getting money for the route they should have had more flights. Also the list of destinations they will offer in winter via ZAG is really 'thin'

thin? Frankfurt, Munich, Amsterdam, Paris, Vienna, Copenhagen, Zurich? That is thin? Omg...

They should have done this, they should have done that...
I am personally happy that OU opened 10 x new routes from ZAG in the last 3 years and expanded some other. Better than expanding like a plague for 2 years and then cutting all over the network...

LHR was reduced because sale contracts with One World group didn't allow OU to make any money. More lucrative afternoon slots for P2P pax were kept and transfer lax may use other Star connecting hubs via OU flights. Problem solved.

Omg... yeah. Flights to AMS and CPH will be super popular especially with a 13 hour connection on the way back.

AMS also have afternoon flight with KLM and than u don't have 13 hour connection time (it will be still too much but it is not 13 hours).

About time. Will be interesting to see how this route performs. Can't help but compare it to JUs Banja Luka route, which seems to have matured now.
