Korean Air, which will commence scheduled three weekly flights between Seoul and Zagreb on September 1, has made some equipment changes on the new route. The airline will deploy its 218-seat Airbus A330-200 aircraft, featuring six seats in first class, 24 in business and 188 seats in economy class, as initially planned, for the reminder of the summer season until October 28. Afterwards, the carrier will utilise its Boeing 777-200ER on the route, instead of the planned Boeing 787 Dreamliner. The airline's B777-200ERs seat between 248 and 261 passengers, which is slightly less than then the 269 on its B787-9s. During the winter, the service will operate with the routing Seoul - Zagreb - Zurich - Seoul, although the airline has no rights to sell tickets on the sector between Croatia and Switzerland.
Personally i think its an upgrade in terms of product seance the 777 is an icon.I would rather fly and see the 777 then the 787.

Korean put B772ER cause they have too few B787s, simple.
When they receive more B787s they'll put them on the route, perhaps as early as next summer season.
I mean by max weight. 777 is much heavier therefore airports usually charge more for handling.
DeleteThey're in same weight category, so airports would charge same dosh for both.
DeleteB772er is not very popular since B789 was launched in 2010, all orders by almost all carriers where transferred to dreamliner.
There were no orders for B772er since 2011.
However, many carriers still have a large fleet of B772s, 570 of these were delivered to large number of carriers.

ReplyDeleteKorean Air plans to deploy B787 900 on the route in early 2019.
Korean Air has 10 789s on order with 10 options, most likely they'll exercise these options in 2020. However, they will utilize B772 and B789 on the route, depending on the availability of aircraft.
