NEWS FLASH

TUI Airways has suspended plans to launch flights between Manchester and Rijeka this summer seasons. Flights were due to commence on May 23 and operate once per week. In February, the leisure carrier also cancelled its planned summer operations between Leeds and Dubrovnik, while it also discontinued its seasonal Edinburgh - Pula route. The remaining new services planned for this summer, which include London Gatwick - Rijeka, Cardiff - Dubrovnik and Doncaster - Pula, will go ahead as planned.

A lot of brits are boycotting EU and decided not to spend their summer holiday in the EU countries. Maybe it has something to do with that...

I think many are postponing holidays because of Brexit uncertainty.

FYI: There is about 48% of us who are not boycotting EU...

A LOT of Brexiters are doing that, just check the social media. Of course the 48% are travelling, I am not saying that Brits are staying home to enjoy the beaches of the North Sea or flying the Hurghada instead...

Not the case for Bulgaria. There will be a significant increase of Brits this year:

Jet2.com expansion, W6 adding 1 more jet, BH Air more UK towns, etc.

So Bulgaria seems to know how to attract British tourists.

Croatia knows too. Maybe Brits are looking into other destinations such as: DBV, SPU, ZAD.

Maybe you are right, maybe they are looking into other destinations such as Morocco, Tunis, Egypt, Montenegro...

Well the airline itself said it is connected to the 737MAX problems. They simply dont have planes to start new routes.

I still think this is a demand issue, if there was demand they could always find the spare capacity.

Not sure it's demand. Remember Monarch MAN to ZAG? Always full. RJK could easily be partial replacement for that service, plus seasonal coastal service. Even JAT used to operate charters RJK to MAN 30 years ago.

TUI UK planned to lease Norwegian aircraft.
They also have operational issues with the MAX 8.
So TUI UK lost own and Norwegian 737 capacity for the summer!
In the 2nd half of August there is no need to open a new summer route...

The headline should be : TUI suspends one of two planned Rijeka services. And according to Rijeka Airport page, Gatwick is not only remaining to operate but has been upgraded to B757

TUI has to cut frequencies on all corners because of their problems with the 737-MAX.
It has nothing to do with Croatia at all.

Brits are not boycotting holidays to the E.U. The problem is Croatia has become a big rip off, prices for accomodation, food and drink prices are extortionate and unaffordable for the average Brit who lives and works outside London. Brits will never sacrifice an annual holiday, they are just going to more affordable countries like Spain.

Excellent. Been a lot around, literally everywhere, over 100 countries, including all European. Worst tourists ever and everywhere are Brits using cheap packages. Rude, drunk, vulgar, conceited, intolerant, arrogant, insolent, bad manners, vomiting on the streets, having no respect for local people and customs, absolute disaster. Of course, not all of British people are like that, there are very nice and polite and pleasure-to-have UK tourists, but those flying to Spain for 200 queed all inclusive are not those, and if such tourists are not coming to HR I will not be sad or disappointed at all, on the contrary
